What do you think about the U.S. potentially having its first African American president (Barack Obama)?

Public Comments

  1. I think that he's not going to be elected because he has no REAL experience at anything. His resume is empty.
  2. That would be great if it were the right person for the job.Not Obama
  3. I'd rater see Collin Powell
  4. That would so great. It would be a great wake up call for most Americans. It will definately shock some people and cause others to be angry for no reason. Just because he has no "real" experience means absolutely nothing!! Look at former president Reagan? He was an actor for most of his life as well as a radio host yet he became president and millions of Americans loved him.
  5. that would be great if he could secure our southern border
  6. i think its great..IF Barack actually wins... i however am unsure and unclear on his stance on important issues... i would like to see the US elect the RIGHT person for the job..someone who will take us out of the mess the current ADMIN got us into.. color doesnt have anything to do with it for me..
  7. If he were a black conservative I would vote for him. He's too left leaning.
  8. too bad he doesn't have a little more going on. He is weak on policy and he looks like a kid the first time he drives a bumper car.. not very confidence inspiring, Now If Cornell West were to run, than I might be excited.
  9. I think "African- American" or any other hyphenated-American is a joke. We are all Americans. As far as having a black president that's cool with me as long as he or she is the best for our country I don't care what color they are. If the next President is going to be black then I'd rather it be President Rice than President Obama.
  10. I have no problem with it. Unfortunately if the responders on YA are any indication this country is still mired in biggotry and so even if he was tapped by Jesus Himself he wouldn't win. Hopefully I am wrong and he will get President or Vice President. Wow I can hear them squeel now.
  11. My first response, as a Conservative, is why would race be an issue? Are not we looking for the best person to lead us? Though I will not be voting for him, color has nothing to do with it, I just disagree, respectfully, with his views on our country. Should it happen, I wish him Gods Speed in bettering our country. Forever seems to be the only one hung up on the race issue, why is that? I guess you don't count Reagans being Govenor of the largest state in the union experience? Hmmmmm.
  12. o man ..... im sure the south wouldnt allow that, ppl in the south are the most closed minded people everrr and they dont care what im sure theyll have their entire communities voting against him
  13. What I think is color shouldnt matter and why people continue to segregate society by pointing out color/race ad naseum gets us nowhere. That being said I have no problem with it because, again, color shouldnt matter. the person should. But I dont think Obama will be elected.
  14. Obama isn't 'african-amercan' He's mixed. I'm tired of this '1/16th' Black blood makes a person Black crap. And I've been told by up and coming Black friends/associates that the term "African-American' is from the old "NAACP' era anyway. Yes I'm white, but if Obama can do the job, so be it. He's a human being. That's what is important. And as far as having no experience, I must say neither did the president currently in office. Unless of course, one could categorize his 'experience' as being thoroughly and irreversibly entrenched in the bowel movements of terror. Hurrah for O'Bama. Whether he is elected or not, he is a HUMAN being first. He's just as good a candidate as any of the rest, if not better.
  15. I dont' care if the President is purple. As long as he/she will allow us to prosper and regain our respect in the world then THAT is important. To elect someone based on creed, color or religion is short sighted, uneducated, and just generally stupid.
  16. Great, but I don't care that he is black...I care that he wants to change the ways of Washington...something that is long overdue
  17. When do he ever spend anytime in Africa?
  18. No!!!! We want Bush http://attach.mud.mail.yahoo.com/us.f904.mail.yahoo.com/ym/us/ShowLetter?box=Inbox&MsgId=8558_1057712_26945_3279_825331_0_296104_1070674_3124979107&bodyPart=2&YY=66272&y5beta=yes&y5beta=yes&order=down&sort=date&pos=0&view=a&head=b&Idx=0
  19. I'm not wild about his youth and inexperience. I'd be happier to vote for him in 2016 or so. But we could certainly do worse than him (and probably will, more's the pity). His race has nothing to do with it -- except that it's about time we had someone who wasn't white. This just shouldn't be up for discussion any more, if you follow me. Much as I feel about the other question of yours I just answered. Sex, race, or other such things shouldn't be an issue -- how good would this person be? THAT's what should matter.
