  1. I'm ready for a major change.
  2. No it doesnt, am voting for her, and if she was a man, i would vote for her, I want someone who would take USA to another level, I hope the voters know that Bill is the most respected American in the world today, and a return to the white house would do America a lot of good. Politics is about doing favours and recieving favours, trust me on this the best thing that would happen to USA is a return of clinton to the white house
  3. As far as race goes I could care less I would vote for Colin Powell if he ran. Barrack is another matter a candidate for president who refuses to say the pledge of allegiance is NOT a choice for that position.
  4. I think the biggest weakness will be the rumors that he is a Muslim, doesn't put his hand over his heart for the pledge or national anthem.... Race, I don't think will be a big deal, the rumors even though they are all most likely false, will cost him big.
  5. yes and his religion too, if he wins he said he won't put hin hand on the Holy Bible but rather the koran,i thought we we at war with those heathens
  6. For God's sake, people, let's clear it up yet again: - He didn't refuse to say the pledge of allegiance. He didn't put his hand on his heart for the National Anthem. - He is a Christian, not a Muslim. He attended a madrassa in Indonesia for a few years when he was young. The Islam they practice in Southeast Asia is markedly different from the Islam they practice in the Middle East. Get your head on straight.
  7. Race, Religion, Sex Will all play a part in this election. Hopefully most people vote on Policies and Values that most fit what they believe not who looks the most like they do, or goes to the same church they do. Go Mitt.
  8. I would like a black president, but sadly yes it will play a part because racism is still out there. He has good intentions, but I don't want him president because he just got his foot in politics he does not have enough experience yet. Wait another 10 years and we will hopefully see a black president. We need a change.
  9. Race is irrelevant, I vote for the candidate that I think will best serve our nation effectively.. unfortunately I don't think that candidate is Obama.
  10. Even though great strides have been made in improving tolerance over the past number of years - I feel that with 9/11, terrorism and Islamaphobia some Americans will be uneasy about voting for him. I actually think his supposed Muslim bakcground will have more of an effect. There's actually a humorous bit George Carlin does about being black and white. http://utefans.net/message.php?id=456240 - maybe some Americans see Barrack as white (not in the physical sense...). This might sound terrible - but it's a personal observation. I actually think America would be more likely to vote for a woman than a black candidate. I personally don't care though. Race and religion are not ways to vote. Even if you do have a prejudice - vote for what's best.
  11. Yes---but not overtly. Nobody is going to come out and say "I'm not voting for the Black Guy" but down in side some may very well be saying "s*%*@ the B&$&*# A#$ N*&%&#@* " and who is going to know. If he loses--in the democratic primaries it will not come up. In the General Election against a Republican.--Oh yeah--I'm sure some news outlets have already written their stories on that one.. Barack has the unique position of democratic spoil. But many old people are democratics --and they tend to not have the same view of race as younger people but they do tend to vote. In Ohio or New Hampshire during the primaries it is not much of an issue.--liberal states with voters who are very politically minded. But out in the suburbs in a general campaign.--I don't think he can charm that many people. ME--I can't wait to see him beat hillary. But the man has all the experience of a leader as a DEAD FISH ON THE BEACH. He makes Bush seem like a Professor Emeritious when it comes to his experience vs anybody Republican.
  12. His lack of leadership experience and his war-mongering foreign affairs policy regarding Pakistan aside, he said he wouldn't play the race card...then he KNOWINGLY surrounds himself with people that he knows will play the race card for him(OPRAH!). Does this sound like the kind of person you want your next president to be?
  13. Maybe, I haven't really seen him pull out the race card yet. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that the only people who are doing so are the people on Y!A lol. I think the general public would accept him as president, as would you and I. During the election it might come up, but it's likely that Obama won't be the one bringing up his race, others will do that for him lol. Remember though we also got the "Obama refused to say the Pledge", and "Obama's a Muslim" myths to deal with as well. Race isn't the only issue, whacked out nut-job theories also have a small role.
  14. I think Barack Obama is a nice guy and presidential material but I think is he a little too far ahead of his time. I agree in that I want to see change happen it this country, but not under the momentum that he is talking about. America is not ready for that much change yet. I also agree with Hillary in that you have to know how to work within the system in order to get change to come about, even if only little. I think Barack should do the honorable thing and drop out and say he will run in 2016 or 2012 if Hillary loses. In regards to what Oprah was saying about Martin Luther King and the Dream and maybe Obama being the one to fullfill that dream, I have only one thing counter to that. Andrew Young, was a foot soldier of Martin Luther King and he feels that Barack is too young to be running. A FOOT SOLDIER of MARTIN LUTHER KING said this folks, not Hillary.
  15. Inevitably, race will play a role in some voters heads for whatever reason. Hopefully though, there are enough sensible voters like you who will vote for the right person regardless of race or even gender or religion or other nonrelevant issues.
  16. Honestly, what I think will be Obama's downfall will be just the interchanging of two letters of the alphabet: Obama Osama I realize that these two men are in no way related & have nothing in common aside from the unfortunate similarities in the spellings of their respective names....yet it still freaks me out to see even a SIMILAR name used in conjuction with a presidential campaign in the United States post 9/11.
