What religion is Barack Obama? UCC or Methodist?

My brother and I have been discussing Mr. Obama's background. We know his dad,who is from Kenya, was raised a Muslim, though he claimed to be a "confirmed athiest". His mom, American, was "detached from religion". Obama has been baptized, that much I know; but I cannot find what faith he subscribes to now. Thank you for any information you can pass along!

2. What difference does it make? Isn't everyone in America supposed to free to worship as they choose? Don't we have separation of church and state?
3. His church is the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. While I agree that it *shouldn't* make a difference to most Americans, the amount of e-mails I get screaming that he's a Muslim (he isn't) behooves me to repeat the reality of his religion as often as is necessary.
