4. His father was a non-practicing african-muslim... His mother was christian. He is Christian. Muslim is a religion and not a race of people that can be descended! .

10. possible but I think not his father is from an area of Kenya called Luo, most are christian there or are tribalist and believer in a greater being called Nyasaye. His mother is from Kansas and I want to say was a christian missionary. His stepfather was Indonesian, which is a predominately Islamic country but I believe he said in his book that his stepfather was christian but again I could be wrong on that. The name is an Arabic name, not muslim but popular with muslim's for the meaning "handsome"

12. His name has many meanings: Barack -Hebrew, it means Lightning. Hussein -(his middle name) Arabic, means a variant of Husan means Handsome, was also the name of the grandson of Mohammad. Obama- A kenyan name I cannot remember what it means. Obama has never denied or even hid that his grandfather was a devote Muslim and his dad a non practicing one. Or that his mom and dad split up when he was two and his dad (who he has only met once I believe) went back to Africa. he was raised by his mom, step-dad, and his mom's family. It is all in the book he wrote called Dreams of my Father. EDIT: to the person above me he did not "convert" to Christianity. His Mom was Christian and he was raised by her and raised Christian. His step-dad was Indonesian but I do not believe he was Muslim, and they only lived in Jakarta (I thin) Indonesia for about 4 years.
