Election Question?

In Australia it is a must for you to vote. If your going overseas during the election, you must vote earlier. What would happen if you were in a coma? Eg. Monday 2004 was election Thursday 2005 you were in a coma, and you wern't told that there would be an election on Tuesday 2006, PM tells us that there will be an election. Saturday 2007 it is election day yet you are in a coma. What would happen??? Would you have to pay a fine?

1. The Australian Electoral Commission will write to all apparent non-voters requesting that they either provide a reason for their failure to vote or pay a $20 penalty. Being in a coma would be a valid excuse and a penalty would not be imposed.
