Did black turnout rise during the 2008 election?
I'm asking this question in both the elections category and the civic participation category. I remember reading somewhere, I don't remember where, that there was a higher black voter turnout in the 2008 election than in most previous elections. Is this true? Also I hear that about 95% of them voted for Obama. Is that true as well? If yes, could you provide me with a good place to find actual statistics?

- Yes
- No the turnout of the presidential election was very close to normal(as far as demographics and voters. try the Gallup poll, Zogbee poll, etc etc.
- YES,JAMES BROWN AND RAY CHARLES VOTED.
- Yes. 2008 was a very good year for the Democratic Party and African Americans played a KEY role in the election especially in early voting and registering to vote thats where the difference and increase was made. A lot of blacks that didn't know or were told that they were not eligible to vote had registered and were advocated for on the behalf of the Sec. of State who made sure that the states were in compliance with the federal Voting Rights Act.
