How many people realize that the Democrats elected a retired KKK member to 3rd in line to be President.?
Robert Byrd is the Democratic senator from WV and he has been elected by the Democrats to be pres -pro temp which is 3rd in line to be President. Would the media stand for this if the Republicans did this. Why would they elect a man that is the epitome of evil. Here is a quote from him that just makes me sick. “ I shall never fight in the armed forces with a ***** by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ” — Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS) I know this was a few years ago when he said this but someone who talks like this should not be still serving our country in any position. Biden- 1st in line Peloci- 2nd Byrd- 3rd Robert Byrd From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Byrd is President pro tempore of the United States Senate, a position that puts him third in the line of presidential succession, behind Vice President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He also held this post previously from 1989 to 1995, briefly in January 2001, and from June 2001 to January 2003.[4] In this role, Sen. Byrd signs bills passed by Congress before they are sent to the president to be signed into law or vetoed. 2 days ago OVER 95% of the KKK were leaders in the southern democratic party It was Northern Republicans that fought them

- How many people realize that the KKK share most of the values that Republicans do?
- Of course, after all Wikipedia is a VERY reliable source. And Obama is white! America will be tax free! Oxygen is a myth! Tin foil hats really do protect our brains from the harmful rays that comes out of our TV's!
- They are confused and think kkk people are republican when a vast majority are in fact democrat.
- Oh, you mean there are Dems that have been klansmen too? No way... That means there is racism in the Democratic Party too?? MSLSD never told me this. Neither did CNN.
- So it's only ok when Republicans do this? This is the Southern and republican attitude whether you want to admit it or not. We never said all Democrats were right either. He was a tool back then, I think we all realize that.
- Byrd is an idiot but hes a typical democrat hypocrite
- At least he's a retired KKK member. What's the Republicans' excuse?
- Unlike MANY conservatives he has apologized and changed his thinking. In America we give people a second chance.
- Sounds like Byrd has a typical american mindset to me.
- *yawn* I love how republicans bring up the one 'former' Klan member.. that NOBODY cares about.... And they ignore the CURRENT MEMBERS that FLOCK to the Republican Conventions EVERY YEAR!!!
- I had no idea and I agree with you, he shouldn't hold ANY office! So what are you going to do about it?
- Former Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black was a former member of the KKK. On the Court, he voted for civil rights and equality.
- he has been in the senate since god was a boy YOU try dislodging him
- Byrd renounced his KKK membership. By contrast, the Republicans elected as their Majority Leader Trent Lott, who praised the segregationist 1948 Presidential campaign of Strom Thurmond. They punished him by taking him out of the GOP Senate leadership... for two years, then let him back into it. Incredibly, like Byrd, and like George Wallace, Thurmond eventually got the message. By the early 1970s, he began hiring black staffers in his Senate office, and began to find out what the concerns of black South Carolinians were, and he not only began to receive but to earn their votes. He got the message in 1972, why couldn't Lott get it 30 years later?
- wow great, another occultist and rockefeller crony
- Maybe Democrats are just better at forgiving someone who has come to see the errors of his ways.
- Robert Byrd is the oldest Senator and he is a throwback to the old-school Southern Democrats. Who were very racists. Remember the KKK started out as the Militant wing of the Democratic party after the Civil War.
- How many young people realize that during the first half of the twentieth century virtually every white Protestant elected to any public office in the southern US was currently or had been active in the KKK? Couple that with the fact that prior to The Civil Rights Act of 1964 we had a "Democratic Dixie" in which very few Republicans were elected to public office, and what do you have? An accusation which those with good critical thinking skills can put into a historical and statistical context, and which those less competent accept at face value. Which group do you belong to?
- I think you can find skeletons in many closets. I think it more important to look at how people move on and cope with changing times. We've had many racists, many drug addicts, many alcoholics, many swindlers, many adulterers, and many crooks...... in both parties. It is a shame that some have used such fame for personal gain. I reckon most folks can name a few in both parties. What I find more troubling is that anyone should be elected so many times.
