Do you agree with Peta that Joe Biden was wrong to buy a dog from a breeder instead of adopting one?

I'm a Democrat, a big Joe Biden supporter..........but I have to say, Peta's right, and Joe Biden's wong. He should have adopted a dog that was in danger of being euthenized. (although death threats are uncalled for.) and another question: Would you personally ever buy a pet from a breeder instead of adoptin one in danger of being euthenized? I'm a cat-owner and I adopted mine.

3. No. I don't think its a problem to buy a puppy from a reputable breeder. They are in business just like any other business owner. Why should they be demonized because other people are irresponsible about their pets? My cat is a stray kitten a child brought to school. That doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to buy a kitten from a trustworthy breeder. PETA is just trying to get media attention...as usual.
4. Biden also adopted a dog from the pound. No, I have always taken in strays. I have 3 cats that were abandoned by their mother. She had 6, I mananged to find homes for 3, and I kept the others. I also have 2 dogs that were roaming my neighborhood.

6. He should have adopted so the breeders dog would be euthanized. PETA is more anti human than pro animal.

9. No..he can buy a dog from a reputable breeder if he chooses to do so. Sometimes PETA gets too extreme. I have 2 dogs...one adopted from the SPCA and one from a breeder. Love them both!
10. Who you buy a pet from and why is a decision one must make for them self. PETA has every right to speak its mind. Everyone else has the right to ignore them if they so choose.
11. What happened to freedom of choice in this nation? PETA should be ashamed of their behavior, as well as every other "animal activist" that has tormented the breeder of Biden's puppy. If you want a pure breed, you have every right to purchase one. My mom's latest cats have all been purebred because that was what she had always wanted. 12. I adopted a dog and I have one I bought from a breeder. The adopted one is 3 times the size of the bought one and behaves 10 times better. I don't get it. Yes. I like Biden but I think he should have furthered this cause and adopted one. So should the Obamas.
13. Why should adopting a dog/cat been reserved only for political leaders? I am no fan of Biden...but he is free to choose where to get a pet....There are more important issues to worry about....
14. No he is a citizen of the USA he has the right to buy any animal he wants. Most of the time the shelters are run by people who will try to tell you everything you should do to your animal. I had a friend that was threatend will a lawsuit because he gave his adopted dog to his brother when he moved instead of giving it back to the shelter to be killled
15. I don't agree with PETA on anything. What happens to those pure breed dogs if no one buys them? They end up in shelter and euthanized unless adopted. So Biden did a good thing by buying and saving that dog.

17. If he had it to do over again I'm sure he would adopt. He just didn't anticipate everyone making a federal case out of it since we have more important things to worry about. He may yet adopt a dog just to stop all the yapping. Or should I say barking?

19. I think that the entire thing is ridiculous. I agree that it's good for people to adopt dogs, but buying a dog from a respectable breeder isn't wrong! The Biden family are going to give that puppy a good home - isn't that all that matters?
20. There's nothing wrong with adopting from a reputable breeder. If he adopted from a puppy mill then I could understand some polite criticism. However the harassment the breeder was subject to was completely uncalled for (see link below). BTW, I asked basically the same question and got a violation notice for it. What gives?
21. We have always adopted and have never been unhappy with our choice. It isn't the problem of purchasing the dog, it is the breeder who breeds more dogs when there are already so many out there that need a home. Once the puppy is born someone needs to care for it and if that's Joe Biden then so be it. If we are going to embrace that then we should adopt unwanted children rather than breed more.
