I think the 2012 Presidental election is going to come down to Obama & Biden VS. Romney & DeMint?

If Romney wou the Repulican Primary, I think he might choose Demint as his running mate. Obama & Biden would win in the general election...   4. i'm not so sure the dems will win in 2012. obama is doing a really really bad job right now, and if he doesn't change soon people are going to start realizing how incompetent he is.
  5. I think Romney is the best bet for the GOP nomination at this point, I don't know about DeMint, though. But, lets just be honest, the 2012 Republican Primary is going to be bloody and divisive, moreso than 2008, and I really think that there is going to be a large-scale ideological and geographical debate about the future direction of the Republican Party. Could it come down to a compromise candidate, such as Romney? Sure. But, consider also that it could end up being a Barry Goldwater-Nelson Rockefeller 1964 sort of battle again. There is no real unifying figure left in the party, plenty of big personalities with different ideas of where the party should go, the Reagan coalition is fractured and Republicans are going to have to look to put it back together. But its going to be difficult for them.
  6. McCain will not run again and Romney has the most conservative support and fundraising capability so he is the likely frontrunner. I don't know about Demint. He is very conservative and Romney might be looking to add some balance to the ticket if wins the nomination. Someone who might appeal to moderates and independents.
  7. Concentrate on now! Stop with the what ifs! Anything like that! Anyway, I think that is a likely possibility. However, I think it depends upon the economic situation. If the economic situation improves radically then no Republican will have any chance and so they will try to help local elections as much as possible: and that means Palin. On the possibility of Demint, it is likely although I would think Romney would like to go with an unknown if it were possible. Romney-Demint would be a good consistent ticket which is usually what the party likes. If the economy is still bad, it would be a lot closer of an election than 2008 that's for sure.

  11. I think the Republicans will almost have to find their own Obama-like personality to go against the Democratic Obama. And I don't think they'll find one.
  12. Nah, Romney was rejected last time by his own party. That whole Mormon thing will make it damn near inpossible to get nominated to anything. He hardly won any states, Who is DeMint? The problem is they don't have any srious contenders now. They are all liteweights. It won't matter who they put up, they are seen as obstructionists and a group of old angrt white guy. They arn't going anywhere with that approch.
