Why did the Republican party cheat in the election of 1888?
In the election of 1888, between Benjamin Harrison (R-Indiana) and Grover Cleveland (D-New York), why did the Republican party buy votes for Benjamin Harrison? They paid people as much as $20 each just to vote for him (and if you notice, Harrison won his home state by just 2000 votes). How come anybody support a party that cheated in one of our past elections?

- Lmao!..your an Idiot, but a funny one..lol, why are you worried about an election that happened over a 120 years ago...
- Nice trolling.
- because republicans are eternal cheaters
- Sure. Why'd Kennedy buy the Democratic nomination with all that cash, and then agree to LBJ as his vice presidential running mate? I mean dude, LBJ and JFK hated each other.
- That's what Republicans do.
- hey why did the democrats cheat in 2008?? Remember ACORN? What did ACORN do, register people illegally? I can ask your question, "How come anybody support a party that cheated in one of our past elections?" Just remember ACORN, 2008 wasn't so faraway it was just last year. How could anyone support the democrats in 2008?
- I remember it like it was yesterday and your statement is as totally wrong as obama`s plans. It was only $5 and that was to get some of Harrison`s supporters to vote for Cleveland so He would not be embarrassed by being beaten in a landslide. Thank goodness for those compassionate Republicans.
- al gore cheated and lost his own state !!!
- Lol. WOW, great argument! I hope you understand that the republican party in 1888 had ideals that are more aligned with the democrat party today. Hahaha, great argument though. Look up the facts before you try to be all 'political' on us.
- They cheated to get Bush in for his second term, too.
- Which was dumb be/c the dude died within a month
- How about the Democrats trying to disenfranchise the military votes in Florida in 2000? Ever read how Lyndon Johnson got elected to Congress? Seems like a ballot box reported as heavily favoring Johnson in a Republican county couldn't be checked because it had been accidentally burned. Did you miss the ACORN drama in the last election? How about the massive influx of gift card money to Obama's campaign in odd dollars and cents? Could it be rounding of foreign currency exchange rates? Not to worry, it was kept under $200 so he didn't have to report it.
- Kind of like JFK in 1960, or Al Franken today, huh?
