Why is Barack Obama trying to appease Republicans?

Why is Barack Obama trying to appease the Republicans with this ecconomic stimulus package when they have barely any political influence? I understand that he is trying to be bi-partisan but when it comes to our extremely fragile ecconomy in which the problems were caused by the actions of Republicans. Why should he cae what the Repulicans think about this new ecconmic stimulus package? P.S. Please do not answer if you're going to give stupid answers. And please don't use this question to bash Democrats or Obama to those people I say he's the President, GET OVER IT!

  1. My question is why is he kissing Israel's ass on Arab TV instead of taking a hard stand against the facist regime?
  2. I have no idea, I think they should be getting nothing more than a kick in the rear end. The idea of reaching out to them is ridiculous, Democrats have long been willing to do that, it's the Republicans that have considered politics as war by other means.
  3. He's not going to, from what I can tell... http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/27/obama.meetings/index.html and I certainly agree with you that he shouldn't... I don't even care if he is bipartisan, I only would like to see him not necessarily act against the will of Conservative America, but they aren't necessarily represented by their politicians, and I don't think almost any of them personally demand respect.
  4. b/c in reality NOBODY knows what will work, none of the fricking high-payed economists in the world.. nor Nobel prize winners on economics....
  5. It is normal for a president to want the support of all Americans.
  6. he doesn't want to bully the republicans. He is actually trying to be a bipartisan president who works with both Dem's and repubs.
  7. Because a true leader embraces everyone, not just his people. It makes us stronger, and makes our country stronger. United we stand, divided we fall.
  8. He IS? Well geezz...didn't know that.! Thanks for letting us know...now let us know how! he is far from bi partisan....Republican's want the country protected more than anything...so far he isn't doing that. And if you don't want opinions then don't ask. You can't open yourself up to a question and then tell everyone how to answer it. That is not honest.!
  9. So you want only communication with those who agree with you. How boring! This president has a plan, agenda, whatever you like to call it. Each president inherits from the last president. I like a president who wants to communicate. Why must you be a blamer. Get over it!
  10. Well he is doing it because he is one but rather than realizing that we got stuck on Hope-o-Vision and the Change Channel and never checked to see where he was getting his money (some of the same lobbyists and corporations that gave to Bush and many other corrupt politicians) The people wanted something other than Bush so he did his best to portray himself as that so he could get into power and help keep things running smoothly for republicans and democrats and not for the people. He keeps the republicans on his side and he gets republican funds and help to keep him in power (it did wonders for Bush and Clinton) The question is why would he want to help the people who cannot offer him much when he can help bail out corporations and the rich who can help him a lot and keep his pockets well lined!
  11. cuzz republicans are part of the power system or did you think he can walk on water all by him self ? o wait you prob did
  12. lol..."And please don't use this question to bash Democrats or Obama to those people I say he's the President, GET OVER IT!" Did you ever get over the fact that Bush was president? don't think so! Just another example of Liberal Hypocrisy..
  13. He is a politician.
  14. So when they don't work the Democrats can blame the Republicans like you do.
  15. 52% of the vote doesn't equal, everyone being represented. Caused by the actions of Republicans? do you really think the president has enough power that he can single handedly fuck an economy like has happened? there's enough blame to go around, example: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jul/11/mortgage-bill-mired-in-political-infighting/
  16. More than anything else, what got us into this mess what partisan bickering. The problem was not so much Republican ideas, but a desire of each party to rule based on hard-line ideology and political grandstanding, rather than working together to discuss and compromise. Neither side has a monopoly on good ideas. I'm a Democrat, but Democrats do get things wrong sometimes, too. Taking the time to listen to Republican concerns gives the President a chance to address whatever valid concerns the Republicans have, and, in addressing those concerns, to put together an end product that most Americans can support, and that, in the end, is better for everyone. President Bush was criticized for only listening to people who agreed with him. I'm glad to see Obama not making the same mistake.
  17. Obama is putting on a dog and pony show for the most part. If he was bi-partisan then he fooled me. If you think the economic situation is solely the responsibility of the Republicans, I would have to suggest you get some more opinions and seek more information, open up a little, don't be so closed minded. There are so many aspects that contributed to the slow down that it is bigger than anyone person can comprehend.
  18. He's not trying to appease them - he's trying to placate them. You might need a dictionary to figure out the difference. Which actions were caused by the Republicans? The housing market falling apart because of the Fair Housing Act and Barney Frank? The oil crisis which suddenly went away when Bush removed the restrictions on off-shore drilling? I was against the bail-outs last fall - and I'm still against them. They were wrong under Bush, and they're STILL wrong under Obama. Did anyone notice how the whole house of cards started coming apart as soon as the Democrats took control of Congress? Or did that little fact just elude you?
  19. Republicans are Americans to , can't we all just get along take your own advice and GET OVER IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have nice day Comrade
  20. Sorry, but YOU voted for him.
  21. So if it fails not just one party is blamed.
  22. Because he is every American's President, and those Republican office holders represent some of those Americans. He also knows that no one person, party, or ideology has cornered the market on solutions.
  23. You won't like this answer. Obama wants political cover when the plan he has goes bad. Otherwise, why bother? The Dems don't need any Republicans to help. BTW: It wasn't republicans that got us into this mess. Did you notice what started it all? The mortgage debacle driven by Democrats like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are major players in this as well. Let's not forget Bill Clinton. He had a part in this as well.
  24. He wants more than one opinion. George Bush didn't care about Democrats and look what's going on today. He feels Republicans need to contribute because he thinks that we need to get over petty partisanship, which has people like divisive blather-mouths like Rush Limbaugh scared "poop"-less.
  25. Because he's not as dumb as he looks. He may be a far left liberal but he KNOWS that he didn't win by nearly as much as his supporters think he did. 59 MILLION people did NOT vote for him. If only a MILLION votes had changed in 5 States, he would have lost the election. No joke. Colorado, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. Nothing to crow about and he's a smart enough politician to know that those States were won ONLY because of moderates and Republicans who crossed over. Not a time to screw those folks over. Also those Republicans in the House represent 100 MILLION American voters. Think about that. About 70% of Americans oppose the bailouts. They overwhelmingly oppose the bailouts for Detroit automakers. They think that the first TARP was a failure and oppose the second TARP. About 70% of Americans think abortion is wrong. They support parental notification and oppose partial birth abortion by about 80% or more. 54% oppose closing Gitmo. Polls show that the public does not blame the GOP. They blame BOTH parties. There are LOTS of things in that so-called "stimulus" package that regular Americans HATE. They don't want these things passed. $5 BILLION for ACORN????? Gimme a break. Obama is skating on thin ice. His approval rating has already slipped 12 points. How low can it go???? If he lets this pass as it is, he is going to have a lot of the people who voted FOR him very, very upset. They will turn against him. He cares what the majority of Americans think. He can read polling data. Not even his own people are sure the so-called "stimulus" package will work. The Congressional Budget Office says it won't. That's why he's backing off.
  26. I kind of hope he stops trying, because then when he passes his putrid stimulus bill, his party will lose the house and senate in 2010, and he'll lose the white house in 2012. He wants there to be no choice between parties, as they spun the bailouts. In any event, avoiding that, I assure you, is why he is catering to those Republicans most likely to sell US citizens out -- as he is doing himself.
  27. Only narrow minded, bigoted, hypocrites (like you) believe that Obama has the juice to force this steaming pile of c r a p down the American's throat. I have bad news for you. You don't have a bulletproof majority so maybe you are the one that should GET OVER IT!!! Better yet why don't you pull your liberal head out of your wide open spaces and actually learn something about why the nation is where it is. Many people, myself included, have done quite well over the last few years by simply banking on the failures of the spineless democrats in office and I will do so till they are out of office in 2 years (for the house/senate) and 4 for the president. Sadly though most democrats, no that's not true make that most LIBERAL democrats, are too simple to understand that it is possible in D.C. to work on a bi-partisanship level. Instead you have the twin idiots of Reid and Pelosi who think they can muscle through and in doing so have garnered the lowest congressional approval rating in history and will rapidly lose the moderate heart of their party. So cry all you want. You still need to work "Cuz yo freebies from the man ain't comin soon". Let me guess you're in college and check that box that said black right?... Don't bother lying you know you did.
  28. Cuz Barry is tired of Rush making fun of him
  29. Chris, because the Democrats in the Senate, do not have a large enough majority to pass any legislation Without atleast 9 Republicans voting for it. The Senate requires 60 votes to pass any Bill. Democrats only have 51 Senate seats. Just like the Republicans did not have enough Republican Senators to pass any Bill without some Democrats voting for the Bills, when the Republicans controlled the Senate. The last time either Party had a 60 vote majority in the Senate was in 1977.
