Why does Ron Paul use the word "revolution" in his materials, if he advocates defending the Constitution?

. Aristotle described two types of political revolution: 1. Complete change from one constitution to another 2. Modification of an existing constitution Why is the phrase "Ron Paul Revolution" propagated? twenty years, and a rebellion. "God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion... We have had thirteen States independent for eleven years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half, for each State. What country before ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion?" --Thomas Jefferson to William S. Smith, 1787. ME 6:372 FUNDAMENTAL: 1 a: serving as an original or generating source : primary b: serving as a basis supporting existence or determining essential structure or function : basic 2 a: of or relating to essential structure, function, or facts : radical [as in fundamental change] 3 dealing with general principles rather than practical application 4: of central importance : principal 5: belonging to one's innate or ingrained characteristics : deep-rooted ----from Mirriam Webster ______________________ fundamental political change entails Aristotle's definitions of revolution. The Constitution is fundamental. If you want to uphold the Constitution, you don't speak of revolution or fundamental change. words matter Merriam ----how embarassing LOL embarrassing 47: words matter. Ron Paul is subject to criticism like everyone else. try a little less vinegar. How does what I wrote here "slanderous" of Ron Paul. Would he not approve of my question? zen, I didn't thumb you down

  1. Because Ron Paul is a Jeffersonian Constitutionalists and Jefferson said the US needed a revolution every 10 years to keep the government honest. We haven't had one in a while and look at all the tyranny, corruption and destruction the US govt is engaging in. It looks like Jefferson and for that matter Ron Paul are correct.
  2. because he wants to restore the constitution which is highly ignored by govt today - he wants taxation w/ representation (not like the bank bailoutswhere there is no transparency) he wants to get rid of the federal reserve and go to an asset backed dollar example gold and silver as written in the constitution before an amendment was illegally made - he wants to insure peoples privacy isnt impeded on in the name of security - he wants declarations of war instead of use of force being justification to go to war ( the Iraq war isnt a war because congress only said it appvd of use of force because the American people would not have stood gone for it ) The constitution is being dissolved today with dangerous precedents and he wants to make sure politicians are liable for what they are doing
  3. Revolution: A fundamental change in political organization. One of the definitions at Webster.com Ron Paul did not nor wants to change the constitution or modify it. He wants to make it the document by which our government is actually governed, something that seems to have been altered on January 20, 2001. (Which was the date of President George W. Bush's inauguration just in case you didn't know...)
  4. It could be for the reason already stated, then again, maybe Ron Paul sees or knows something he isn't supposed to be telling but hopes that by dropping little hints we will get the idea, like the present and next presidency is knee deep in the hog trough and being fed from high on the pork barrel pig which is leading the nation down a long lonely road to rape and pillage us and leave us in the ditch to wither away. He may be telling us we need to wake up and smell the coffee before it overheats and dries out in a black, charred mess, to cause a revolution and take our country back from the usurpers that have been slowly eroding our rights and freedoms for over a hundred years and have us all but on our knees begging for mercy or a swift swing of the headman's ax. We, the people must rule our country or we will not have our country long. The minutes are ticking by until that final hour and we sit twiddling our thumbs, hoping for change. People, we will have change, but it may not be the change you hoped for. It may, well be, a change from freedom to enslavement, from doing it your way to being told how, when, where and what to do. We need to follow our Constitution as it is written or soon we will not have that sacred piece of paper to call on for our rights and liberty. Our law and flag are being attacked by forces which most do not see and from inside our own government, as did the Roman Empire before us, fell from the greed and apathy of the leaders and citizenry. Will we stand and play our fiddle as our Rome burns and falls around us, or will we join together and make an attempt to save our ragged old flag and Constitution. In the voice of our forefathers, the founders of this great nation, I proclaim, I may go but I will not go peacefully!
  5. His definition is different than Websters' because he is saying our political class has so long ignored Constitutional boundaries that returning to the Constitution will be a revolutionary act. If you don't think that the word revolution applies to that, you should use a different word. However, rEVOLution works well enough for me.
  6. Because a revolution is now required in order to restore the Constitutional framework. "If you want to uphold the Constitution, you don't speak of revolution or fundamental change." The fundamental change has already happened, incrementally. We now need a revolution in order to get back to the way the republic was initially set up. I'm sorry lady, but your question is totally back asswards. You went back 2400 years in time to find a definition of "revolution" that would allow you to craft this (entirely SEMANTIC) argument. It's not a very strong one.
  7. Because in our time, what he is proposing would be revolutionary. "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." ~ Orwell But anyway, he is correct. So let's not indulge in substanceless nonsense and focus on the truth. Because it will prevail. :)
  8. My short answer is..He believes we should "Live" by the constitution, not just wave it around and talk about it. I only have one problem with Paul and it's that I don't have a clear picture of how he would handle Nuclear Proliferation. The option of retreating to the safety of our castle walls does not exist in the modern world. There is no safe place to hide. If he can clear that up for me then I believe he is the best man for the job right now. I've looked over his voting record and it's excellent.
  9. Because we no longer follow the US Constitution. Look at us we are selling out every Amendment and now have elected some one who is going to rid the constitution of the Second Amendment. The first is gone thanks to the fcc. The third and fourth are done thanks to the patriot act and repealing of certain laws that forbid the military to police it's citizens. Now we will have something else. We have been brainwashed into thinking that by getting rid of our guns it will somehow allievaiate us of crime. However: Gun ownership is at it's all time high and Crime at its lowest in years. There is also this belief by some politicians the criminals deserve a safe environment as well. However every Nation that has rid themselves of guns have seen such a radiclal crime increase that it surpasses the US by far. No joke Britain Gun crime increase. Australia 300% crime increase. We the Police will be so overwhelmed and why people ask would they do this if they know Gun control doesn't work. That's easy. You the Citizen will call for more Police. You the citizen will allow your self to be taxed more for the illusion of safety. Crime rates will drop as they usually do in area's that criminals have picked dry and crime rates will increase in area's ripe for the pickings. Ron Paul is talking about a revolution because he see's the dangers of these people who are calling for a radical new interpretation of the Constitution. That interpretation is one that give Government more power and the Citizen none. We are turning into what the Soviet Union was during the cold war. We have tempered every citizen to think a certain way. For instance if any one votes for some one other than the usual players such as Democrat or Republican it is considered by many a wasted vote. There are many things cops are able to do now that where once considered constitutional infractions. We can search your home with out you being present. we can label you a terrorist and hold you indefinitely. It hasn't been done yet. but the fact it;s there is concerning wouldn't you say. We the Police don't believe in gun control. Yet all you ever hear is the police think it's a good idea. We need to start following the constitution and hold our elected leaders responsible by questioning everything they do. Democrat or Republican. To think we have done our jobs by voting every 4 years is ridiculous and We the people will suffer. Not Government.
  10. We need to have a Revolution. It is getting to the time to do it. Hate to see it happen. But, we have no choice. Something has to be done.
