Would Mitt Romney have beaten Barack Obama?
Mitt Romney was known throughout the campaign for his great knowledge and experience with the ECONOMY. The ECONOMY was the biggest issue this fall, and still is. If Romney were chosen as the GOP's nominee, would he have beaten the Obama/Biden campaign, especially is he chose McCain or Palin as his VP?

- With a baseball bat!
- no way
- Yes, that's why the bankrupt NY Times wanted McCain BEFORE it trashed him and wouldn't let his publish an essay to rebutt Obama's lies.
- It certainly would have been much closer.
- Doubtful. Mitt was unwilling to share his magical underwear with McCain.
- No. No one in the GOP was going to beat Obama due to the past 8 years, and Romney is a Mormon, which in many parts of the country is worse than being black! Obama had a tremendous campaign people and had the money. He stayed on message, and Romney, an anti-abortion conservative was not going to beat that. In addition, Sarah Palin may be great for her right -wing faction of Evangelicals, but it pulled the Republican party to far right, and no Evangelical will EVER be elected President in this country, and as we have seen, not vice president either. Most people are somewhere near the middle. Palin is certainly not that.
- No people don't trust Mormons.
- No. Bush/Cheney/Rove/Abramoff/Delay/ and all of the Republicans in power for all those many years really put the Republican brand in the mud where it belongs.
- The Republican "brand" was so thoroughly tainted by Bush that the Dems could have nominated a rutabaga and a box of condoms and would still have won.
- since he couldn't even beat lame McCain i don't see how.
- Romney is aslo a Mormon, and that would not have played well with many people.
- No, but I suspect it would have been a much closer race.
- I doubt it.
- No because too many Americans said " We MUST elect a Black President " which excluded Romney from the equation.
- As far as being on the cover of GQ, yes Mitt may have won.
- Yes Mitt Romney could have beaten Obama
- Romney would have won. That's why the media pushed McCain on us so hard during the primaries. All Romney knows how to do is succeed, especially with the economy.
- He certainly would have been more competitive than McCain but no i don't think he would have won.....
- No, I don't think so.
- No, because the people who voted for Obama, voted based on emotions, NOT issues...They still would have felt the same way about Obama and voted for him.
- Due to Mitt Romney's economical knowledge it would have been possible for Mitt Romney to win to the election.
- With the cool aid The Great Pretender was serving and the way he had many believing his lies and rhetoric, I don't think anyone could have beaten him. I do believe that McCain knew the economy was about to blow up and think he lost on purpose. If not he would have surely brought up the many questions we all had about the birth certificate, Ayers, Wright and the Indonesian school, but he didn't mention them and even said they were off limits. Now I ask you, Does this sound like a man trying to win?
- Obama was too organized and on message than any Republican candidate. He anticipated and out campaigned everyone. Not one Republican had the ground force and get out the vote campaign that Obama was waging. This allowed Obama to stay focused, on task, and keep negative campaigning to a minimum. Romney, like McCain would not have been able to effectively oppose this tidal wave of voters and would have had to resort to the same tactics of character assisination. Obama would have still won.
- Had the election started a week before the economic breakdown, then yeah, it wouldn't have even been funny. Most data says that Obama was elected to fix the economy, which is why he won more conservative states. However, I don't know if Romney would have been as close before that time. I'm not saying he wouldn't have been, but I just don't know. He might have chosen Palin for VP like McCain did, but I doubt it. I would imagine him going for Guiliani, but, of course, it's all theoretical.
- No. The media would have performed in the same way.
- I believe so
- Yes way. If he were to have beat McCain in the primarys more repblicans would have voted in the final election and had he chosen Palin, no one would be saying "Romney is gonna die in office." so in turn, palin would make a great addition reguardless of her age, experience (which she still prevails over Obama in) and sexism on the libs part. Romney would be a 100% Guarantee to beat Obama the Llama because Romney leans more to the right than McCain, but Huckabee was better than both combined.
- Nope, Mr Mormon Magic Underpants would have lost by even greater margins because he flipped and flopped through the entire primary campaign. His "phony-ness" was shining through brightly and could be seen by each side of the political spectrum. He can be appointed by Obama as the Czar of Magic Mormon underpants . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4-BL7K8gBY
- No LOL
