How does the places Barack Obama lived affect his beliefs, issues, etc.?

He lived in Indonesia, Chicago, Hawaii, where else? Why is this important to his beliefs? Thanks

1. Well, he understands the world better than he would have had he just lived in the US or just in Hawaii or Chicago. He understands how it feels to live in poverty, he understands what it is like to be very wealthy; he understands what a quality education is and, when he was unable to recieve one at his catholic school in Indonesia, his mother sent him back to America for a chance at a better life. He knows how it feels to struggle, to fail, to get back up and try again, he knows what its like to put forth effort and achieve results. That is his story....a very American story.
