Do you see Ron Paul trying to run as the Libertarian Candidate for President in 2008? Why or why not?
Since Congressman from Texas Ron Paul is NOT going to be the nominee for President of the United States of America under the Republican Ticket, do you see Paul being the candidate for the Libertarian Party in 2008? Why or why not? Keep in Mind that Paul was the Libertarian Candidate for President of the United States during the 1988 US Presidential Election.

- He said he wouldnt do that
- No, he's a republican congressman and is running as a republican candidate. He said he wouldn't run third party.
- Teams that I support for the World Series get beat. When I support a team for the Super Bowl, others laugh at my selection (like the last one! Gotta luv the New York team!) This is the best year ever for a third party candidate. Thus, I do not want to harm his chances by supporting Ron. (Although I did support the previous candidate named Ron.)
- We need to bring back the Republican Party, not abandon it. Ron Paul is staying with it and will stay with it as long as he can.
- No...he is staying a Republican By the way, you'll probably like the newest 3D Ron Paul commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3MLTvYBQy0 http://hightidepromo.com/large.html I am doing my part to spread the message around
- I think he will run as Libertarian / Independent. He needs to do this to promote his libertarian views and allow those who support him (and would not vote for any candidate of the establishement) to make their voices heard. Although I followed his statements closely, I do not remember him saying clearly that he will not run as Libertarian for President.
- I agree with ViorelUdma most among the above answers. This may be the best opportunity for a 3rd party since the LaFollette/Wheeler (Progressive) ticket of 1924 which got about 16% of the popular vote. I believe every financial contributor to his campaign, and there are many, would feel incredibly let down if he did not run on an Independent or Libertarian ticket--as his (and their) views are not at all represented by any of the leading candidates, Republican or Democrat. Ron Paul OWES them!!! About the idea of trying to save the Republican Party, and that Ron Paul owes it something, that is pure fiction. The Republican Party has irreversibly sold out to the Israel-wags-the-dog-or-else lobby, the bomb-bomb-bomb, bomb-bomb-Iran, 100-years-in-Iraq McCainists. Ron Paul has no business trying to make compromises with that contemptible bunch! (Of course saying anything bad about Israel or Zionist interests automatically makes me a "crazed anti-Semite" these days...)
- He has really shyed away from the idea of a Libertarian candidate since his initial run under that party so I don't see him trying that route now. He has said in interviews that a third party is not really favored as much in the U.S and that the system is biased towards them. I guess seeing that happen on a first account basis might have really reinforced the idea in his own head that a Libertarian run would not be doing any good at all. Anyway, I do support Ron Paul and so should every one else based on principles alone. He is organizing a march in Washington right now which is scheduled to begin in a few months I believe. You can pledge to join the march online at my blog listed below.
