Why is everybody so attracted to Senator Barack Obama?

Especially people in my generation(Under 24 years old)

Public Comments

  1. It's called the Sheep mentality! All he has to do is say I stand for change and you can hear the bleating for miles: Quote of the Century "My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it." -- Barack Obama
  2. EVERYONE? I think you are generalizing, even with the naive "kids."
  3. Who is everyone? I honestly haven't met an Obama supporter yet but then, I live in the Midwest. I think Obama has a nasty surprise coming. Perhaps Reverend Wright will comfort him.
  4. I have no idea. He's a racist, he's anti American, he's inexperienced, and he's way left wing.
  5. It is SEX. Young White Democrat Males are Sexually Excited by Obama. They faint, swoon, and throw their underclothes at him. The Older people that like him are--- Racists. Communists. American Haters. Old Soldier Hating Hippies.
  6. I live in the Midwest, you can't find an Obama fan anywhere.
  7. Hey kid...I am 66 and I am attracted to him as well. It is not just the younger crowd that is interested in him, it is also the intelligent and educated crowd as well, welcome aboard.
  8. "Everybody's" not.
  9. The people are not always right in picking some for position of leadership. Example: Germany 70 plus years ago. A good speaker can hide many of his/her faults
  10. darn good question, when you find out could you please let everyone know,
  11. He's the first candidate since Reagan who has genuinely 'sounded presidential' when he speaks, and shown some real leadership qualities. If you're 24, you don't remember Reagan - at most, you were in Kindergarten when he left office - so you're dazzled by a bit of charisma and skill at public speaking. Why both parties have prefered candidates that come off as hackneyed or even tongue-tied for the last 20 years, I don't know.
  12. No clue. Could it be they think small town people only support the First and Second Amendments because they are bitter? Could it be they think small town people are anti-immigration (rather than against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, like Hazelton, PA)? Could it be they honestly think small town folks are anti-free trade rather than PRO-FAIR TRADE? You got me. I certainly hope his supporters are not that hateful and bigoted!
  13. I am from Alabama, I am embarrassed...
  14. I am very impressed, but NOT in a good way. Yes, it does seem like the youth are in his back pocket, which surprises me. One would think that they would read. I guess that they are busy in school, but must enjoy his pep rallies where he gives "Xeroxed" speeches, while reading from his TelePrompter. Perhaps they are able to identify with him, as he is the closest candidate to their age. My concerns are that he is just too naive in foreign policy and that he cannot work on an economic bill and have it pass in the Senate. Even Obama voted against his own bill, as the final tally was 99-0. This is just not the time for another Learn-As-He-Goes President, like Jimmy Carter was.
  15. It's Hillary. She escalates his natural appeal and charm. Just kidding. He makes far more sense, than Hillary Clinton. She is very elitist in the way she behaves, far more than anything I've seen from Obama. She dismissed a great many people, places and things during this campaign, and she only went back to find them, when she was losing. He's not the elitist, she is.
  16. Obama was playing a good game for a while with his speeches that skirted around and rambled on to where people forgot what he was talking about. He has suckered people in by promising change; but has never actually said what these changes would be or how he's planning on paying for them. He is a good orator but that is not going to win the election for him because his true character is coming out now and I don't think he relates to middle America and we are the ones who actually vote.
  17. My kids aren't. They are smarter than that. I do not know why they are attracted to him. I think they have stars in their eyes.
  18. Because “hope” and “change” are buzzwords that really resonate with the young, idealistic college aged person. Wait until you have a few kids and a mortgage. Then you won’t be taken in by slick presentations and silver tongues.
  19. eeewwwwwwwww!!! Not me.
  20. Because many of the younger crowd do not find out the facts for themselves (I promise I am not trying to generalize-I know that there are some that do the research). They tend to take whatever someone tells them (i.e. parents, teachers, friends) as fact and vote accordingly. If you don't really know or care who or what you are voting for then don't. I don't care what party you are for as long as you take the time to educate yourself on the issues and the candidates and make sure their views are in line with what you believe. The internet is a great resource. Check their voting records on various issues to see if they are being truthful in their statements. Be a free thinker and don't follow the crowd.
  21. isn't that the same generation who think things like Paris Hilton is a worthwhile celebrity, or something dumb like who is cooler Lindsey Lohan or Hillary Duff? I mean doesn't this go back consider the source?
