  1. Isn't he the flip-flopping Mormon who hires illegal immigrants in his mansions? LOL. Good luck with him.
  2. I think its a good idea, brings the ticket to life, John McCain is not alive.
  3. I'm reading it is a HUGE mistake. Number one reason: Mitt and McCain hate each other and if you cant get along with your VP you have a serious problem
  4. Actually Romney would make a better President, however, I would like to see Sarah Palin as VP (Govenor of Alaska)!
  5. The media has been doing a full court press attacking Romney so you know he's a great candidate.
  6. great idea...there over there spats...rommney has the money and can carry michigan
  7. He's a good man with family values and economy brains
  8. Putting Romney anywhere near the White House is like dropping a skunk off at a wedding reception. No good can come from it.
  9. Mistake
  10. Does it matter? McCain might as well chose Larry Craig as his VP, since his entire campaign is going into the toilet and that is one area that Craig has plenty of expertise in.
  11. I think Romney would be a HUGE mistake for McCain due to the makeup of the Republican base. The red states in the South (where I live and grew up) vote heavily along the "Christian Right" lines. It's not as bad as it looks on the maps, but there is still enough of that here for Republicans to win here handily. As a Democrat Al Gore could not carry his own home state of Tennessee. With that in mind I am not sure how much folks in other parts of the country realize the objectionable nature of Mormons within the world of Christian Conservatives. In the Sixties people here felt the same way about catholics. That seems silly now, but then it was very real. That's why John Kennedy needed a southerner such as Lyndon Johnson (from TX) on the ticket with him. It was largely perceived that a catholic could not win in the South. Now, why was that? There were different reasons, but it wasn't talked about much, it was pretty much a blind prejudice, but when it got down to it there were two hard points. The catholics confessed to a priest and they prayed to saints. Flipping the channel back to Romney... many many people do not know anything about Mormons. They are not a HUGE presence in the South. The sticking point with Christian Conservatives from the South will be the "role of Joseph Smith as prophet", the accusation there (I'm not trying to say this is true, but it's a short campaign season and even a misconception can go a long way) will be that Mormon's put Joseph Smith ahead of Jesus. After that it will be about polygamy. Regardless of how the Mormon church actually thinks and feels about polygamy it DID happen. People who know nothing else about Mormons know that. Then there was the recent scandal about the West Texas Polygamist Ranch. One couldn't read about that without seeing the word Mormon. This sect was originally founded by people excommunicated from the Mormon church in 1935.... But STILL, there's that word showing up and that really does affect people's minds. You might think, "well all that's just stupid". Sure it is, but the ill-informed really do cast votes and the red states in the South will turn at least slightly more purple if McCain runs with Romney. Given the money Obama is expected to have you can be sure that everyone here would hear ALL about it.
