Will John McCain bring back the draft?

If you have a young son — or daughter — in your family, or are a young person yourself, the last person you should support is John McCain. He would bring back the draft to provide cannon fodder for all the wars he and his Neocon advisers are dreaming up. His own Website promises: The global war on terrorism, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, threats from rogue states like Iran and North Korea, and the rise of potential strategic competitors like China and Russia mean that America requires a larger and more capable military to protect our country’s vital interests and deter challenges to our security…. As President, John McCain will strengthen the military, shore up our alliances, and ensure that the nation is capable of protecting the homeland, deterring potential military challenges, responding to any crisis that endangers American security, and prevailing in any conflict we are forced to fight… He knows that to protect our homeland, our interests, and our values - and to keep the peace - America must have the best-manned, best-equipped, and best-supported military in the world. How will John McCain support this best-equipped, best-supported, best-manned military without drafting new soldiers to replace the ones that have already perished due to this phony war? Recruitment, even now, is way below the military’s needs. The U.S. Army, which bears the brunt of the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, has nearly tripled the number of high school dropouts recruited from 10% of the force to 29%. This is significant because a modern military is run on complex commands, missions, and equipment. Dumbing down the force means more accidents, casualties, and failed missions. dlk: touche'

  1. No. We are meeting and in some cases exceeding our recruitment goals. There is NO need for the draft. USAF veteran
  2. Should this country become involved in a global war (other than the terrorism war we have now), it won't only be McCain calling for a draft, it would also be Obama. God Bless those men and women who freely enlist in the services.
  3. He just about has to reinstitute the draft in order to get enough troops for his plans to attack Iran and probably other places as well. I heard him say on the news the other day that he would certainly leave that option (a draft) open.
  4. Nice try, Ms moveon.org. It's funny how you Liberals are the only one who every bring up the draft, and threaten to start it up. Democrats in Congress have put in bills to start the draft. Bush, the military, and all Republicans say a draft is the last thing they want. Why are people like you and moveon.org so dishonest? Is it because you find many dumb Liberals who believe you it gives you a rush?
  5. YES your are exactly right. this bozo will keep the war, start other wars going which will lead to a draft.
  6. NO, When he was asked he said it was a bad idea & would not even be considered unless America was in an all out WW3 & then no matter who is President you can bet your bottom $ it will be reinstated.
  7. Since it's not up to him the answer is no
  8. no ur stupid he dosnt suppport the draft anyone who has been in war and a P.O.W cant like war but if the a draft is necessary then it is maybe ull get drafted plus its not up to mccain its up to congress McCain '08
  9. No he will not. It is the Democrats that want to bring back the draft even though the military is making quota.
  10. Actually, it is the democrats that want to restart the draft.
