Is John McCain a war hero because he slandered the very men fighting for him?

To get the pain to stop? Did he do it just so they would stop torturing him? John McCain, the song bird he was nicknamed. If that is the case though, why wouldn't those in Guantanamo bay do the same?

  1. I'd like to send you to a NVA POW camp and see what they could get you to say... idiot...
  2. I think you have McCain confused with Kerry. McCain didn't have to stay, but did.
  3. As far as the Gitmo comparison, McCain told lies to get them to stop and so do detainees in Gitmo. That's why every branch of the military's official policy is against torture and says it yields no useful intlligence.
  4. I thought his middle name was Sidney but Songbird works just as well.
  5. WTF, YOU NEED TO READ UP ON JOHN MCCAIN, IF YOU DON'T THINK HE SHOULD BE PRESIDENT FINE I DON'T KNOW WHO I AM GOING TO VOTE FOR YET EITHER. BUT HE DID GREAT THINGS. HE GAVE UP AN EARLY TICKET HOME JUST TO LIFT THE SPIRIT OF OTHER POWS.
  6. Where do you get the idea that he is a war hero? Because you read it on the news? Or here in YA? The man buckled (even while given preferential treatment) and gave up military secrets to the enemy during war time. That’s called a traitor. He’s a liar and a traitor, NOT, a war hero. ---> Ok so now I read the rest of your post, after I already wrote this and then cut paste - but I'll leave it as it stands. Thanks for your question.
  7. yes that's probably correct if you want to look at it that way i personally don't care about his past i care about what he stands for now... which isn't much that's why i'm not voting for him
  8. The evidence of him slandering is what? The youtube interview from years ago that has been proven false or some new slander you make up. the way I understand it the men being held POW with him have and had a great respect for him and the information he gave included the target he was bombing the day he was shot down and information abut the Green Bay Packers football team. Funny how John Kerry is a hero for lying to Congress about seeing American troops kill people and wipe out villages for no reason Senate testimony in the 1970's he later admitted was false but stuff he had been told about by other people in VVAW or "hearsay") and Jane Fonda going to Hanoi and being given notes to carry back then turning the notes over to the North Vietnamese holding the POW's (no she was not caught but did that voluntarily) which caused then additional torture time are good and great people.
  9. You know what. If they did to me what they did to McCain I would probably tell them whatever they wanted. Most can handle some torture and many can handle a lot. But no one can deal with years of it without giving something up!
  10. What secrets did he give up? Do you people really know what your talking about? He openly admits that he gave into his captors by admitting he was a war criminal by bombing the city. Never did he give up any secrets. He was a pilot, not a General. You all need to do some research before you speak. Secondly, how can you sit there in the comfort of your home, enjoying your freedom, paid for by the blood of others and condemn a man. You are cowards.
  11. I was suspicious of him when nothing in his life matched up with someone who would be a hero. Spoiled brat son of an oil heiress, McNasty in high school, cheated on sick wife & left kids, ran around to find someone to make himself look good & further his ambitions, poor student, focus is always war, broke his own bones crashing his own place, crashed 5 different planes. Anger uncontrollable. Does it sound like his core intentions in life match someone who is a hero? No so then I was Vietnam Veterens against McCain they have a video & republicans who are store working are on camera speaking the truth about him. He has voted against votes How much does it take for someone to see. He was never a hero.
  12. Must we bring up and bash politicians' military records?
  13. It is easy from the comfort of an armchair to pass judgement on war heroes.
  14. I think most of you who degrade McCain for what happened in Viet Nam should get out of this country you are definitely not patriots.
  15. John McCain was a POW not a war hero. A war hero risks his own life to save the lives of others. Here is an article written by a fellow POW and friend about Mr. McCain. http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,164859,00.html He says "There were many heroes in North Vietnam. I saw heroism every day there. And we motivated each other to endure and succeed far beyond what any of us thought we had in ourselves. Succeeding as a POW is a group sport, not an individual one. We all supported and encouraged each other to survive and succeed. John knows that. He was not an individual POW hero. He was a POW who surmounted the odds with the help of many comrades, as all of us did. "
