Is the "Barack Obama is a racist" issue really as ridiculous as it actually is?
I mean, it is ridiculous, but can it get more ridiculous? Subquestions: Will Hillary Clinton be vilified as a sexist? Will John McCain take strong stance against US war veterans?
Public Comments
- Yes it is ridiculous and the people who try to say that he is are also ridiculous.
- Yes. Obama was in fact raised by his white mother and grandparents. At a campaign stop in Kansas, he talked about and talked with a white relative of his. I think she was her mom's aunt.
- David H. the video you really want to watch Unbiasly is the one below. It does show how Obama is a racist...don't shoot me I'm just the messenger.
- You mean lying two faced hypocrite Obama ?
- It's just a desperate attempt to stop his success. It won't make any difference in the long run. Obama 2008
- It is very ridiculous that people are not taking a look at the real views of America. They chatter about simple things as race, looks, religion, but unable to view real issues on health care, economy, etc. I feel that people should take a hard look at the issues at hand that should be tackled by their prospective president instead of trying to participate in these smear campaigns. Obama '08
- The question should be, is he really qualified to be President, and that is not ridiculous at all.
- We Shouldn't Freak Out About: Obama Attending Trinity (A), and Refusing to Denounce Wright (B): A - The bloggers are trying to say that because Obama attends an African nativist church, he isn't really the racial uniter he claims to be. Bollocks. White women and an Indonesian stepfather raised Obama. Is it really so surprising that he would seek a church whose web site proclaims: "We are an African people?" I've always wanted to know what the North Carolina Baileys are like. Why wouldn't a man who grew up being perceived as black, but who knew little of his Kenyan father, want to join a family of people who represent both African-Americans and Africans? Furthermore, he knows that as a community organizer and politician, he will have to lead black, white and Asian people... and he's had the least exposure to the first. He's a human being - of course he wants to connect with his background! He's a politician - of course he wants to connect with the most fervent African-Americans. He needs to know both the Cosbys and the Wrights of the world in order to succeed. B - Clinton didn't denounce Ferraro, after the latter said that Obama succeeded in the race so far because he's black. This is a ridiculously ironic statement - Why is Clinton succeeding, exactly? Her stellar health care achievements? No? We Shouldn't Freak Out About: The Ferver and Anger With Which Wright Speaks - Haven't the bloggers ever been to a megachurch before? Or a black Southern Baptist church? Or a white Nazarene church? Episcopal? Pentecostal? Lord Above. Black and white churches of these types are notorious for their booming rhetorical style. Whether it's the hellfire of the Nazarenes or the uplifting Amens of the Baptists... they want to get the congregation moving, feeling the spirit, and Thinking!! These are not quiet little Amish farmers droning in German. It's a preaching style, not a radical rally. Moses had a BURNING BUSH, for heaven's sake. Sometimes God speaks LOUDLY and says Let My People Go**. And if you're preaching in Chicago, that's how you fire people up. ** On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes God speaks softly. eg: Mark 14:51-52 NASB A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him. But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked. The Bible can be difficult to explain. Race can be difficult to explain. Stop freaking out about Rev Wright... and start freaking out about issues we Can fix.
