What do you think about Mitt Romney re-entering the presidential race?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/02/romneyback.html I'm not sure about the details either--it's just circulating on the radio, etc. I know it's not official, but I was wondering what you thought about the idea. I would personally feel better if he were running rather than McCain.
Public Comments
- He won't rejoin as the Republican nominee, so I don't think it will happen. It's just speculation mind you. The Romneys want as much press as possible because Mitt is a likely 2012 nominee if a Democrat wins the presidency.
- That would be great. I really like that guy.
- I would love to see as many viable options as possible. Our unofficial two-party system was set up by two parties. Something is wrong with this picture. America needs more choices!
- I would rather vote for Romney instead of McCain. I plan on voting for Hillary Clinton in the general election. If something as unfortunate as Obama getting the nod... I will be voting for the Republican and I prefer Romeny over McCain.
- He is not going to re-enter unless McCain drops out. I see no reason for McCain to drop out. So don't get your hopes up.
- Wow i don't know i wish he hadn't dropped out in the first place. But at this point in time it would do more harm than good. McCain is beginning just now to gain more support even from the Democratic side of the equation.
- I like it. It's a really stupid idea that would siphon votes away from McCain, but it would offset Ralph Nader's really stupid idea to enter the race and siphon votes away from Obama or Clinton....okay, Obama, but I wanted to sound like I still had an open mind about that one.
- I'm not sure I understand this. It says reenter as a VP candidate...well thats obvious he would take VP if McCain offered....almost anyone would. Reentering for the Republican presidential nomination....its far too late. McCain already has almost enough delegates to win. I don't see how he could do it unless McCain turns out to be like Mark Foley or Larry Craig. A third party run is always possible but I don't see Romney doing it.
- A McCain/Romney ticket would be a sure loser.
- He is not! You've been duped.
- Pure speculation presented as news. From the article. The elder Romney, who was unable to assemble sufficient conservative support to thwart McCain, has made no public comment since the McCain camp was rocked by a controversial article in the New York Times last week first revealed in December in a posting on the Drudge Report. Another example of media hype: '.........was rocked by a controversial article in the New York Times.....' Sensationalism sells!
- Lost my cofidence when he dropped out - so stay out!
- I would hope not! I try not to look at his religion noting it is not a true religion but rather cultic in their beliefs...Jesus is the brother of Satan! There is much hypocrisy in their religion and the Book of Mormon is re-written each time they change their minds about what they believe, can do or cannot do.................I see this as a carryover into politics and into the Oval Office itself.................Mormons are known not to patronize businesses that are not Mormon owned, this is wrong; they also hire their own and seldom others given a chance, etc. I don't like this for when personnel are changed it will be Mormons.
- It won't happen. Everyone suspends their campaign and is eligible to reenter. No one is even discussing him as a possible running mate. I think we will see him in eight years or even four.
- Can't stand Clinton. Can't stand Huckabee. Have lost respect for McCain. Don't like what I am learning about Obama. Romney, for Prez. I would definitely support that given the other 4 major options. Romney, for VP. I would reconsider McCain, if he was smart enough to make that move. Frankly, at this point, without Romney, I have no idea who I want in office.
