Why does anybody think that fringe candidates such as Rudy Giuliani or Fred Thompson have a chance to win?

70% of the American people are sick and tired of our foreign policy of aggressive war. No candidate who openly supports such policy has a chance of winning (though the mass-murdering warmongers Hillary and Obama do have a good chance of conning the country into voting for them). Among Republicans, only Ron Paul has any chance of being president. While Rudy or Fred is more likely to be nominated, they can't win the actual election. Ron Paul, by virtue of being the only anti-war Republican and the most supported of the 3 anti-war candidates (they include Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, and Dennis Kucinich), is the only Republican with a chance of winning the election. Why are the Neo-Cons so delusional as to believe that the American people are gullible enough to vote for their openly pro-war candidates? While the American people are gullible (H.L. Mencken's bathtub hoax, the fake Chief Seattle speech, and the works of Al Gore come to mind), they aren't total fools.

  1. 80% of republicans do not know much about politics, and will cast a vote for the person they hear the most, like Giuliani....that really concerns me.
  2. I think Hillary has already been picked to win this one. You're absolutely right about Ron Paul being the only candidate that can beat her. But look at the media black out surrounding Ron Paul, look at the way the Neo-Con reporters on Fox News disrespect and disregard him. This looks like it's being set up for another Democratic lay-up for the presidency, kind of like when the Republicans ran Bob Dole against Bill Clinton, gee wiz , I wondered who was going to win that one. The presidential elections are a side show, a ruse to give the public the idea that they have some hand in things. We will continue the Bush/Clinton dynasty, unless Bush calls for martial law first. If you haven't seen the HBO special "Hacking Democracy" then I really recommend it as soon as possible. It makes a great case that it really doesn't matter who we pick, only who gets to count the votes.
  3. Fred Thompson can win because he will have the base of the Republican party backing him and he is an excellent speaker and would do really well against Mrs. Clinton. Giuliani cannot win because he will not be able to win in the South. Thompson can and most Southerners do not consider Mrs. Clinton a true Southerner.
