John McCain opposed the bush tax cuts, stating they were bad for the economy. Then he supported them?
and states that they are good for the economy. So what is so good about the current economy that John McCain sees no reason to change direction on?
Public Comments
- When proven wrong, McCain changes his opinion. Maybe Obama should learn to do that
- Wouldn't the logic be that in a weak economy we should allow citizens to keep their money rather than take more taxes?
- These tax breaks went to the richest 5% of the people in the country. How can anyone justify that? It's more ownership of the government by the wealthy. The pharmaceutical industry wrote Medicare Part D (no price negotiation, for the love of Mike!) and MBNA wrote the 2005 Bankruptcy law. The rich get a tax break. I think the Bush administration is more than a little corrupt.
- Really no one can tell what any move McCain makes since this man has flipped and flopped so many times above others that it's became a standard. also this man does not understand what we are saying to him. we need help to rebuild this country future. really our economy is so in trouble that it's not even funny.
- Tax cuts actually are good for the economy, it's just that they look bad to lower and middle income people. I'm no conservative, but people have to be willing to invest money for there to be companies for people to work for, and that's where "capital" comes in, and "capital gains" taxex. People who have money to start businesses will spend more of it and create more jobs if the capital gains tax rates are low. But for people with no capital, they just don't get it, or don't want to get it. As for health care, McCain doesn't know Nothing!
- Just like war for oil, come on he is old, and he is been tortured for four years, he is kind of Koo Koo
- Poor John, he can't win. If he goes against Bush, he is seen as being disloyal to his party. If he criticizes the economy, he's saying that Bush is responsible for it. He doesn't have a plan of his own, so he's tagging onto the Bush plan, much simpler that way for someone who has no new ideas. Republicans are afraid of change and I guess they must think Bush is doing a good job. They just blame the Democrats, as if they've been in control all this time, screwing stuff up. Pretty unbelievable, isn't it? What's really sad is that it is going to take years, if ever, for our economy to recover from what Bush has done - and who's going to get the blame? The Democrats, cause there is no way McCain will win this election. Republicans are fiscal conservatives - yeah, right!
- that's cuz republicans suck
- McCain saw that they worked...there is more going on that just tax cuts and their isn't one simple solution to the current economy and who intererst is best served for the crisis..we had years of significant growth until the democrats took control...so that might be a factor...ya think? obama has 'changed' a 180 degrees on a lot of things but his supporter do not seem to notice or they do not care. that is why he is now being called the 'teflon' candidate. he flip flopped on bring the troops home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVsqFQTbKXo he flip flopped on public financing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxA2OX0xCTc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oIQphrBICk he flip flopped on iran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6Lge-__OOE he flip flopped on the D.C. - Firstly, he opposed them because they were not paired with spending cut mandates. Secondly, he's seen that they work. I don't see anything wrong with admitting that your position was flawed in the past. Its called enlightenment.
