Has Barack Obama won the democratic nomination?

Has Barack Obama officially BEAT Hillary Clinton in the Democratic portion of the race? As in, it will DEFINATELY be him and John McCain in the final presidential race?

Public Comments

  1. Yep, unless Hillary runs as an independant.
  2. yes...unless you're Hillary, then you think you still have a chance!
  3. Yes.
  4. Well, both McCain and Obama are presumptive nominees prior to the repective party conventions at which they become the official nominees. But don't look for anything to change.
  5. Technically not yet. He gets formally nominated and voted on at the democratic convention.
  6. Yep
  7. No. Neither has McCain beaten Romney and Huckabee. It does not become official until the conventions. That is why they are called the "presumptive" nominees. However, it is highly unlikely that these two men will not be the nominees.
  8. Unless something come up that would make Obama look like a fool...somemore dirt !!!!
  9. John McCain and Barack Obama are the presumptive nominees of their respective parties. The nominations don't become official until the political conventions later in the summer. Unless something bizarre, unforeseen and unprecedented in modern American politics occurs, it will be McCain vs Obama in November.
  10. Yes, she has thrown her support behind Obama with the hopes of being the first female V.P.
  11. Not yet, but he will
  12. yes. she conceded.
  13. Yes Barack has beaten Hilary in the primaries, that's been over for sometime now, but I wouldn't get too excited yet. Obama still has 5 months to go to beat McCain. I know what the polls say and that's good and all, but sometimes the polls can lead people astray and detur them from the truth. Don't rely on the polls continue to look at what the news is saying and what the candidates are saying. We have a long way to go, and we will need to be patient and not naieve..
  14. No, he's not the actual nominee until the delegates cast their votes in August at the convention. If more skeletons come out of his closet, Hillary could walk away with the nomination.
  15. Obama has not won the nomination, that will not be decided untill the convention. He is the presumptive only. He does not have the amount of delegate votes to claim victory yet. So I wouldn't be to hard on Hillary folks just yet, she could pull this off yet/.
  16. Hillary has conceded, so yes I think it's clear, he will win the democratic nomination.
  17. It will become official at the convention. Here's to a sound beating at the hands of John McCain!
  18. Officially - no. That should happen at the Convention. But the Democratic Party could give the nomination to someone else. Remember they attempted to do that in 68 in Chicago. thousands of democrats rioted when Humphrey was officially nominated over McCarthy-the candidate of the goofs. We must wait and see.
  19. Unless Hillary Clinton or the DNC or the legal sytem's looking into whether or not Obama's legally a U.S. citizen pull a rabbit out of their respective hats, then it looks like B.O. izz da man!!!
  20. Not officially, no - that doesn't and can't happen until the convention. However, he does have commitments from the majority of convention delegates, both pledged and unpledged, and the DNC regards him as the nominee until and unless he drops out or otherwise has to leave the race.
  21. Sen.Obama is the presumptive nominee because he has won more than enough delegates and super delegates to win the nomination. A total of 2118 is required for nomination, and Obama has won 2243.5, so far. However, he doesn't become the official nominee until the Democratic Convention chooses him. Likewise, Sen.McCain is the presumptive nominee because he has won more than enough delegates to be selected at the Republican Convention.
  22. He's the presumptive nominee. Neither candidate is official until the party conventions.
