Is Mormon Mitt Romney electable for president?
Why or Why not? citation please!

- No, he is a repuglican, repuglicans are unelectable until at least the year 2020, George Bush has fixed that one too.
- no. i am your empirical evidence.
- NO, he belongs to a CULT and belonging to a CULT will make him unelectable. Look up "kolob", look up " mountain meadows massacre". Did I mention CULT.
- to hell with the people above! he's a great guy and the people of his state like him very much. ill vote for him.
- It comes down to the question... "do you want a Mormon Republican or a Christian Democrat?" for those in the South... and I think the south is the key swing area if he runs... and I think they don't like Mormons... and would even prefer a Democrat over a Mormon... religion runs thick in the South...
- No.
- yes
- He has done a good job as Governor in Mass. Mass. has few Mormons and they elected him as their Governor. He did a good job running the Salt Lake City winter Olympics in 2002. He is a politician. He knows better than to mix religion and politics. He is honest or at least more honest than most politicians. For the people from the south. I wonder do they want a honest person that has not mixed religion and state as a Governor and who is every respectable person. Remember you are voting for a president not a church leader.
- I think he will have a tough time getting elected if any of his opponents start circulating some of the odder features of his religion, like the special, scratchy underwear, or the fact that they are not really Protestants, as those unacquainted with Mormons tend to assume. Given the history of Republican primary mudslinging, such as the sniggering misrepresentation of the foreign orphan MacCain had adopted in the SC primary, I assume someone will even suggest Romney has fifteen or twenty wives stashed somewhere. (My personal view of that is to agree with Huck Finn regarding Solomon's supposed wisdom.)
- Why not? He is very acceptable and infact very winnable. Among those candidates he has, by far, the most qualities of a president - smart, principled, attractive, experienced, charismatic and above all, turn-around specialist. Whew, he's the man for the White House, man. America will enjoy financially if he's the president, believe me. Moreover, if you're an intelligent voter, you will go for Mitt Romney. For wise voters deserve a wise leader. And Mitt is the wisest of them all!
- I think he is. The only thing that people think is an issue is his religion, and that shouldn't be an issue. Religion and law/politics shouldn't mix, and I firmly believe he believes this. On this note, his religion teaches it's members to be active in their communities and vote, but not that they must vote a particular way. There are many Mormons who are Democrat, included Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. People should look at his record, what he has done as a citizen, and how he has represented his people. He was very successful in Massachusets and I believe he could be a strong president.
- Who is he running against? In the Primary Republicans have to chose between him and Guliani and McCain. Both have a lot of baggage, but it's McCain's nomination to lose. In the General if it's Hillary for the Dems, will any Republican sit home if Romney is the candidate? I think it would be the highest turn-out ever. Personally, I thing McCain gets the nomination and selects Romney as a running mate, if he doesn't shoot himself in the foot. Mormon and Southern Baptists share a lot of common causes, even if they don't always agree on theology.
- Never heard of him. Who is he? Apparently not someone with a national recognition like John Edwards, McCain, or Juliani or Clinton or Gingrich. Can't advise, until we know who he is.
