If Mitt Romney became the next US President would he be beholding to the Republican agenda?
This is the actual QUESTION, cited below: "I am not saying that I am correct. I am asking for opinions here. (a) If Mitt Romney became the next US President would he be beholding to the Republican agenda? (b) Would it be better, if both Democrats and Republicans alike contributed to his election and made sure that they had the man's ear?" .

- 80% of the media is controlled by the few and Bush's FCC is trying right now to lax the laws so an even higher percentage can be controlled by a few conglomerates. Please check it out before voting republican. State newspaper's international and national news is usually solely from AP. Bush executively ordered that no archives from Reagan will be released or future presidents for historical books and research. Appears he is embarrassed of Republican Presidents' behavior. Romney recently gave his faith-based speech with Senior Bush at Senior Bush's Library.
- He has already proven he would be - he is like Clinton and goes the way of polls. In the 1990's when he was a democrat, now all of a sudden he is a republican. Or when he signed a pledge for Gay rights and pro-choice, now he is the utmost speaker against Gay marriage (next to Falwell and Bush) and pro-life. He is a fake, and a wishy-washy idiot!
- No. Mitt Romney wrote the book on Flip Flopping. The GOP Oil Corps know he's a Mormon wacko and they know they cannot trust him. They threw him out there last year when they were fielding two parties for the election, the regular Rep candidates and the wacko "Independent" party candidates... by the way, when was the last time you heard a word about the "Independents?" There were 6 or so of them, Romney was one of them, what a joke that fraud was. Anyway, the answer is "No" Romney will never be trusted by the Oil Corps.
- Well, that depends. What exactly IS the Republican agenda? If you are referring to the GOP platform as it stands, then neither of the candidates in the running would be beholden to it. They each have their own narrow agendas of how they believe the country should be run and what direction it should take. The current president does not seem to be beholden to modern-day Republican principles of fiscal restrain and "traditional moral values" (whatever the hell those are) as his deficit spending and costly foreign invasions have illustrated. Given Romney's mixed track record, it's not likely he, himself, would live up to those ideals and, quite frankly, it may not be in his best interest to blindly tout steadfast conservative planks since he's long been branded as a "one who rides the waves" of public opinion in order to get votes.
- I find it very disturbing that Mitt apparently would be beholden to the Blackwater agenda. Mitt even named Cofer Black as his adviser on torture, during the recent Republican YouTube debate. -- What is Blackwater’s Role in the 2008 Presidential Race? http://www.democracynow.org/2007/12/10/what_is_blackwaters_role_in_the Cofer Black is now vice-chairman at Blackwater and heads Total Intelligence Solutions... Blackwater's intelligence gathering and analysis branch. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/02/AR2007110202165.html http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Total_Intelligence_Solutions%2C_LLC I'm not a Hillary fan by any stretch, but in all fairness... Hillary Clinton has caught much flack over her aide, Mark Penn, who did not work on the account himself but whose PR firm did do some work for Blackwater. Yet oddly, the mainstream media has been silent on Romney's very direct Blackwater connections, even after he mentioned Cofer Black in his response on torture during the latest Republican You-Tube debate. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/hillary-clinton-blackwater http://mediamatters.org/items/200709260015
- No President should be beholden to ANY party. They are elected by the people and only beholden to us. This is what has made so many conservatives so angry with President Bush in the past few years. He has forgotten, or chosen to ignore, just who got him into office. And the Democratic controlled congress is no better. They all choose to ignore the People that elected them, to line their own wallets and those of their 'friends'. This is why I support Romney in the Republican party. He is the only one that has repeatedly stated that he is elected by and represents the People, not any special interest group. While I do not believe he is perfect, I do think he's better then the other Republicans currently available. And they are ALL better than any Liberal Democrat.
- Romney is the most complete flip flopper and transparent and persistent liar I have ever seen in politics. He supported a woman's right to choose, now he is anti abortion. He says he changed his mind because he realized that embryonic cells were being cloned for stem cell research, yet he says that it's ok for fertility labs to throw away unused embryos or to sell them to private labs for stem cell research. That doesn't even make sense, AND it belies a dangerous moral relativism. If killing a fertilized egg is murder, it is murder no matter who pays for it! Then there are the outright lies. Romney says he cut taxes in Massachusetts, but all he did was shift them.He says he was a lifelong hunter, but he hunted only 2 or 3 times in 60 years! He says he was endorsed by the NRA, but he was not. He redefines the word "saw" in a figurative sense to explain why he was not lying when he said he "saw" his father march with MLK for civil rights. (His father never met MLK). It is not an exaggeration to say that Romney he will say anything to get elected. It would not be a stretch of the imagination to say that he will completely tow the Republican lines once is in office. He knows where his bread is buttered, and he is a company man, an empty suit. Democrats would be wasting their time and money on him.
