Is John McCain weak on national security issues & is he a one dimensional candidate?
Retired Air Force General Tony McPeak, a national security adviser to Barack Obama, dropped the hammer on Sen. John McCain today, telling the Washington Times, "It doesn't take very long to uncover national security issues that McCain is weak on...For McCain to think he has a monopoly on virtue in the national security issue is going to be shown a pretty flimsy idea very quickly." "[McCain is] wrong about Iraq, and he's wrong in the past and wrong about his ideas going forward," Gen. McPeak said. "And that's the biggest single national security issue on the table." Gen. McPeak added, "[McCain] supported the intervention to begin with. Then of course he attacked the execution and he was justified in doing so. But the idea that this was a good concept, poorly executed, won't stand the test of examination. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jun/02/general-mccain-weak-on-security/?page=2 Stew S: My dad said the exact same words. Interesting... Mr. CJ: LMAO Butter: Excellent point

- And his one strong issue is, what? I missed that.
- Are you really gullible enough to take the word of somebody on Obama's payroll to judge other candidates?
- McCain Trusted More Than Obama on Economy, Iraq, National Security http://news.yahoo.com/s/rasmussen/20080530/pl_rasmussen/mccainobamatrustmore20080530;_ylt=Al0zGqo7y2bPvnrMQPrUsl7vj9AF
- Because McCain is "entitled" to be President! LOL!!! Sarcasm intended!!
- There is a common logical fallacy among people that if someone has served in a war they are somehow qualified to run one. That is simply not true. Its like saying someone who swept the floor at Microsoft for a year could do bill gates' job. Although its clearly not just republicans who think this, as Kerry last election was the only candidate with war experience, but its something that parties try to cling to when its convenient.
- Ok,what about all the other Generals that say he isn't weak.
- No, in fact John McCain is the strongest most well informed candidate running. The fact that General McPeak, whoever he is or was, supports Obama and is thus attacking McCain is a real shocker isn't it? Most military men agree with McCain. Those who are super liberals, such as mcPeak, do not.
- McCain is much stronger then Obama ,Obama is going to cut our military more if he get in office and willing to turn it over to the UN.
- McPeck is a moron. No wonder Obama is so terribly misinformed on Iraq.
- weak ? what a joke that is like his strongest issue of them all . national security and terrorism are ones where he polls strong on i have noticed .
- I would not say that he is weak on national security, but I think that he has dangerously confined himself to one issue that may not be as strong as he thinks. Well, I take that back the issue itself is a critical one. The problem is that McCain's claim to fame in that arena is that he served in the military and was a POW. That may not be enough especially considering the unpopularity of the war, GWB, rising oil prices, the economic woes, etc.
- I think that he will be far stronger than Obama on national security, and I also believe that his running mate will help to balance his dimensions.
