Without invoking September 11th, can you explain why Rudy Giuliani would make a good President?
Seriously. Reasons other than "He's America's Mayor," please. Jay: That's not an answer, that's you trying to avoid using 5 of your own points to ask your own question. Care to try again? It's interesting that only one person has come up with any kind of rational argument in favor of a Giuliani Presidency. So far, that's the person with the best shot at "Best Answer."

- he's not Hillary
- He did a lot of good for New York, why not America? He's the only decent Republican running.
- I can't think of one reason except the one your first answerer gave.
- Besides being the chief executive of the largest city in the northern hemisphere, reducing crime in his city, lowering taxes and being a take-charge positive kind of leader...nope...can't think of a thing.
- I can't think of any.
- He has the same connections as Spiro Agnew America needs a closer connection to Sicilian Crime Families
- Noun, verb, 9/11. oh crap.. I couldn't do it :( :P not a republican.. so just making a joke here people :P
- Okay, three things 1. He tends to get things done like reducing crime in NY with proactive policing. 2. He takes the attack on this country personally and that makes him more dangerous to our enemies. 3. He doesn't let fear get in his way of the job. He had a contract on him by John Gotti when he prosecuted the "teflon don". As a conservative I do have many reservations about his social liberalism though.
- Even when 9/11 is used, this should nothing but negitave for him, for Christ sake 9/11 happened while he was in charge. Many, Many, MANY questions!
- His firm stance on family values, his careful budgeting process concerning personal expenditures, his need once when he was mayor to overturn term limits for NYC mayor's, his charmed view of torturing prisoners, and, gosh, lots of other stuff, too!
- because he isn't Mrs Clinton!
- Nope cant think of any reason he would make a good president. He's a suck up.
- Mike's answer is pretty good, but I'd include the fact that he turned New York's finances around. He was both an excellent financial manager of the nation's largest city, but as Mike pointed out, he also greatly reduced crime in the city and brought back sections and neighborhoods that were in poor condition. Should have seen Broadway and Times Square before Rudy and then look at it now. It's really pretty amazing. And while I won't mention 9/11, he did display incredible coolness and leadership in a crisis that no other American mayor has ever faced. So, he's got proven and effective Executive experience that few other candidates have and, I don't believe any of the democrats have.
- Sorry but you really can't even use 911 as a good reason.. What did he do besides being the acting mayor of the city that was hit?? He did nothing besides use 911 as a future campaign issue... Ask most of the firemen, policemen, and families of the victims what THEY think of Rudy.. That should say it all.. I live in NY state and the man is a joke along with our Jr senator (Hillary) who did nothing but campaign for president while in the senate.. What is this.. is NY state the campaign grounds of America where all the less qualified people think they can gather experience just by holding office??? Hey if you want I can make up something to get those 10 points but the problem is I'd be lying...or atleast be falsifying the numbers but he has already done that.
- He managed to make himself look good even though he really did nothing. And he had two failed marriages and broken relationships with his children and an affair and used tax money to protect his mistress. Anyone that can convince good Christian folks that all of that is all ok, deserves a run at the Presidency.
- When his lips move ... "he tells exciting lies and convincing fables of heroic fanaticism's".
- He placed the terrorism response center within the city's biggest terror target. With that kind of planning, I want him in charge of the country as a whole.
