Why does not the the shrinking base of the Republican party vote for Ron Paul?
Does anyone believe the polls are accurate in regard to Ron Paul when you can look at his fundraising to know their wrong? Are these base Republican so pro war that they can not vote for Ron Paul? He has all the qualities they want as far as being pro life and they could not get a candidate with better morals. So why are they not Ron Paul Fans? Why is Fox News so against Ron Paul?

- I think his base of support is small but the fundraising shows how intense his support is. It will be interesting to see how the voting public responds to the advertising he can now afford in NH and other key early voting states. I don't think he can win the nomination, but if he performs well in some primaries, he might bolt the party and run on a 3rd party platform against the war (esp. if Rudy and Hillary are the two candidates)
- Probably his principled stand on issues.
- Because he is honest and it's been so long that honesty has been in our government, people don't know how to react.
- The base of the Republican party is too hawkish and about FNC, the War on Terror guarantees them ratings. Ron Paul isn't as crazy as people say. He's conservative in a lot of ways. He's a fiscal conservative who wants to balance the budget and cut spending and taxes. He'll secure our borders without offering amnesty. He's pro-life and he's against the assault weapons ban. He supports states' rights and he's wants to protect personal liberties. The only thing keeping him from the nomination is his position on the War on Terror. He's not wrong but he just hasn't found a good way to get his point across. Where the War on Terror is concerned, the rest of the Republicans oversimplify the issue and the Democrats blame it on George Bush. Both of them get some good sound bites out of it but they only scratch the surface of the issue.
- Because Ron Paul is a fruitcake, a borderline lunatic when it comes to politics. He is radical to an extreme. Leave the UN? Leave NATO? Disband the Federal Reserve? coo-coo!
- Joe-t, and so many others, so accustomed to the problems they grow up with, accept them, and want nothing different. I guess with a 2% answer rating, everyone should listen to you huh? Ron Paul is splintering, filtering the "base" of the Republican party. This could be good, or bad, I do not know yet, as I don't understand why, people that logically should like him, don't. The polls are probably fairly accurate, of the demographic polled. Usually they call only people that voted Rep in the last primaries, so they know what kind of answers they will get. Then the people answering the phone, probably don't know how to use caller-id to not answer a supposed "telemarketing" call. On top of that, they have to have a phone. A lot of younger (35 and below), don't have land lines, or have switched to voip/cell exclusively, their voices aren't equally sampled. I think he will surprise and embolden those that are on the fence, and irritate those that have already written him off for whatever reason. So many new voters, and party switchers will be voting for him, that it may be a unique event in recent history. Fox is against Paul, because they back Hillary this roll of the dice. If I could see into alternate futures, Ron Paul is probably the only person principled enough to be able to beat her, and more importantly, bring about some real change to overcome some obstacles on path of liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
