Why are Ron Paul and Mike Gravel still in the presidential race?

Why are Ron Paul and Mike Gravel still in the presidential race for the Republican and Democrat parties? Shouldn't they both have suspended their campaign awhile ago since they are so far behind? Are either expected to try to expect nomination from a third party?

1. BECAUSE they have no shame or dignity. I acutually like RP, but I think he's waiting on a miracle (Huckabee, too) that isn't gonna happen.

4. I think Mike Gravel doesn't even know what's going on around him and RP continues to be deluded by the fact that he could someone win the presidential election
5. Ron Paul has a book slated for publication in late-April...consider it an extended book tour that the publisher does not have to pay for. Gravel....I guess he may have his name on some primary ballots, but I have not heard or seen him discussing a campaign since Iowa/New Hampshire. If he's still around, he probably has a lot of time on his hands and figures he'll spend it in different cities.

8. Because it wouldn't be a good race if everyone that was behind quit. Ron Paul is proving that people want change in government. I doubt he thinks theres a chance of getting the republican nomination, he's also running to keep his office in Texas.

11. Ron Paul is still in for his followings sake. He has a statement to make, and the more exposure he gets the better. Mike Gravel...I have no idea. Most people haven't even heard of him, and he's not even listed on most ballots anymore. On top of that, he's a crappy candidate without any real plans for this country.

13. Because it is their right to be. It is because of them and other candidates that many important issues that were kept in the closet were brought to the forefront of discussion. Be grateful for that because a lot of their issues directly effects you and everyone else regardless if you agree with their entire platform or not. Remember Tancredo? He was one of the first to make the public aware of the illegal immigration problem in this country long before the election process. This was something everyone in government was completely aware that was getting out of hand years ago but it remained a dirty little secret as long as the public didn't know or complain. Ron Paul was the first to create dialogue about the blatant disregard for our consitution and the civil rights of all Americans. This is something rarely discussed as a problem in government because once again it was our already elected officials who created the problem in the first place. These so called lower tiered candidates knew they would never get the support or financial backing from their parties because they do not play ball to the reform going on within each party. If the party leaders could silence them permenanly they certainly would and the regular citizen would be forced to conform so much faster then what we have to now, if at all, thanks to these outspoken mavericks.

His son Rand has made speeches for Ron on his behalf! You see Ron Paul and many of his followers believe the neo-con's have taken a path far away from the U.S. Constitution's guidelines, and are destroying the very principles that the USA was founded on....... ......Life, Liberty, Justice for all, & the un-empeded Pursuit of Happiness, which is brought about in an entirely FREE society! Don't you think that's a very important message to keep spreading? Ron Paul's message about getting back to smaller government, cutting government waste, removing the income tax, changing foreign policy to reflect the values of our Founding Fathers (friend/trade with all but don't get involved in the politics of other countries), ending birth right citizenship and removing the reason illegal immigrants are here - is what counts. He is getting the message out that we need to get the country back on track by looking to The Constitution for guidance and really understanding the reasoning of the Founding Fathers. His platform is popular as evidenced by the numbers - 24% voted for him in Washington state. It's really about getting the message out. However, he could wind up with the nomination because a whole lot of conservatives and republicans will NOT vote for McCain. Who will they vote for? If they vote for who they truly want, it's going to be Ron Paul.
