What are the arguments against Ron Paul being elected for President?
I never really found any good arguments for him not running. All I find are people that say he is a lunatic or he can't get elected. Those are really just extremely shallow statements. I want real arguments with facts and the works. I will pick the best argument against Ron Paul. I support him, but I like to debate with facts. Thanks.

- His record for stuffing pork into legislation seems to be up there with the best of them. Makes me doubt his commitment to smaller government.
- I like many of his policies but don't care for the way he likes mix religion and politics. I believe, like many of our founding fathers, that freedom of religion is best protected by the separation of church and state. In other words, by not becoming beholden to the government, religion will be less influenced by government. Ron Paul says that the founding fathers meant to make Christianity a cornerstone of the US and I don't believe that's true, In fact the founding fathers argued rigorously about just that.
- Rp and Ann Coulter would be a winning team
- He's never accomplished ANYTHING!!!! All he does is waste Congress's time by proposing amendments that he knows full well will never pass. If he were to become president, he would grind the government to a screeching halt. He would be a disaster.
- There are no valid arguments. Ron Paul is a centrist (sp?) candidate and this has the RNC/Texas Oil Cartel worried. It's much easier for them to spread their propaganda when we are a country divided. If we all stood together we'd see the lies of the Texas political machine. Since their involvment in the death of president Kennedy, Texas has been the "bad spot" on the face of America. I say, give it back to Mexico and let the weasels fend for themselves.
- People find him too radical. They said the same thing about Goldwater. He reminds me of him. Both good men.
- There are no good arguments against electing Ron Paul.
- There is no good argument and if there is, it's purely speculation, only his supporters that have been following him for years really know what Ron Paul's about.
- He would dismantle the Department of Education, a scary enough thought all by itself. He wants to return to a gold standard in this country, one of those lunatic policies you mentioned earlier. He wants to destroy the IRS. Okay, who doesn't, but he'd have us institute the Fair Tax, which is hardly fair at all. The Fair Tax would leave rich people with the option of buying boats, cars, movies, even goods and services, from outside of the United States, leaving the support of the economy almost squarely on the shoulders of the middle class. Unless he thinks we should also impose a huge import tax, which would cause an uproar and may even cause foreign nations to retaliate, the Fair Tax is just another way of saying "We've got what sounds like a good idea, and we've studied it, and it could work if everybody just acts the same; but to be honest, we haven't really thought about whether or not anyone would actually follow it if they had a choice." Of course, the middle class would not have a choice, but rich people still would. Speaking of foreign politics, I'm all for leaving Iraq; but not when it's vulnerable to hostile takeover by Saddamesque dictators. And I'm not talking about corporate takeovers, either. All the metaphors become reality when we're talking about cutthroat politics in the Middle East. We may not have an actual imperative to stay one more minute, but we created a power vacuum in Iraq; and unless we want Al Qaeda filling that vacuum, transforming themselves from a group of cave dwellers to a new fundamentalist regime, then we'd better make sure there's some measure of security left behind when we pull out. That brings us to foreign policy in general. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ron Paul is something of an isolationist. The country learned 65 years ago that we can't ignore the rest of the world. Sometimes, you just have to put on a helmet, grab a gun, and go topple the evil megalomaniac. He thinks the Islamic extremists are going to fold like the Soviet Union? The Soviet Union didn't fold; it collapsed under its own weight and the weight of waging a cold war against not only the United States but virtually the civilied world. These terrorists don't have a dozen and a half countries' worth of people to feed. They have maybe that many mouths between them, and the rest are just volunteers who don't know anything more than what their leaders have told them. We need to find some way to educate those people, and yes we need to hunt down and kill those dozen and a half, and more, so that they can't spread any more hate. I'm sure the good doctor would agree that's the best policy. Unfortunately, we can't cut ourselves off from the world if we're to accomplish it.
- Well, nothing is bad with consuming pure honey, save for those who suffer from diabetes. Ron Paul will make an ideal president. May God grant him victory in the elections, Amen!
- Here is a link to my board, where this subject came up a while back. Apparently Ron Paul used to write for an extreme rightwing magazine, is closely affiliated with people in the EXTREME John Birch society, and has some bizarre ideas about black people. And his position on abortion is wholly unacceptable. You can't bestow "rights" on a clump of cells. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/We_Talk_Politics/message/3234 Sorry, he's OUT for me.
- Arguments? Well he supports the Constitution, that is horrible isn't it? He wants to cut taxes, man that is crazy. He wants to get the government out of peoples lives, how very unpatriotic of him. He wants to end bureaucracy and corruption, how very unpolitical of him.
