Why does John McCain argue for the sanctity of marriage when he cheated on his crippled wife?

12. Lots of folks do something early in life, and come out against those actions later. Think of all the former addicts who work against addiction; or former drunk drivers who help MADD, or war heros who oppose war. Would you prefer that former drunk drivers oppose laws against drunk driving or that all war heros promote wars? We never know what hides in the closet of candidates we support. We support them based on their positions on issues, or so I would hope; and we should oppose them based on the same thing.

What does it matter anyway, issues surrounding candidates wives are considered "low class" and "detestable" and are not to be spoken of. And long documented relationships with people like pastors, professors supportive of terrorists groups like the PLO or people who take responsibility for bombing the US Capitol should have no bearing on the judgement of a candidate right?
