Is the John McCain of 2008, the same John McCain of 2000?

TedKenne-As a matter of fact I have. In 2000 I was free to do as I pleased. In 2008 I have to care for my son who was paralyzed in Iraq. TedKenne-And trust me, 100 yrs, whatever. It "ain't" gonna' happen to my grandson. Hopes that answers your question. Obamasmear-I asked a question about Sen. McCain, not Sen. Obama. Sorry you didn't read it too well.

  1. John McCain has been the same since 1970. He was old then, he is old now.
  2. No, he's 8 years older.
  3. No. Have you changed at all in 8 years?
  4. Nope. The old McCain got his clock cleaned by GW Bush. He learned the hard way that being a total centrist in the Republican party is the path to failure. His good buddy Lieberman learned this too, which is why he is an indep now.
  5. No he has changed some of his views.
  6. yes, of course he is. Stupid question.
  7. is obama the same obama from 2 days ago? hard to tell he flip flopps so much now he even said bushes spy bill is a good bill even though he spent a whole year opposing it! he talks about mccain being another bush, but here lately, he has been agreeing 100% to all of bushes tactics!
  8. The John McCain of 2000 wouldn't vote for the John McCain of 2008.
  9. Definately not! In 2000 he was a much different candidate. Today, he sounds more like Bush every day.
  10. No, I would have voted for the John McCain of 2000, McCain 2008 complete opposite and will defenitely not vote for him.
  11. Here's a long story about that, and why I take this question so personally. When I was in Iraq (03-04) myself and another soldier were concerned with some of the prisoner abuse we saw there. We had decided to write a letter to some politician about it. We were both Dems but actually decided to write McCain, because we knew 1. his party was running things 2. he had always seemed to be a man of integrity, and 3. The obvious fact that prisoner abuse would be a personal issue for him. Later after writing the letter, we let ourselves be talked out of mailing it. We were hearing from cynical people who said, "what do you think is gonna happen? The 18 yo private with NO actual world experience gets busted, not the officer who gave him the go- ahead" and that kinda rang true to me. Back in that time in Iraq (it's different now) we were pretty unconnected out there. When I came home and found out John McCain had been fighting that battle the whole time, I was ASHAMED that I didn't send the letter. I wrote him to let him know that he would have my vote if he ever ran again, because he had the guts to stand up to his party for what's right. Well, how sick is it that he has turned his back on that? He's counting to much on moderates like me, I think he's worse now than Bush. I just spit on the office carpet, so you know I mean business.
  12. I am deeply sorry about your son's unfortunate condition. Here's a chinese proverb in answer to your question, "If you can believe the words of a politician then you will also believe that pigs can climb trees."
  13. No, unfortunately, I think he sold out.
