  1. I like him. I don't consider him a "flip flopper" as some have, people can genuinely change their views. He admits that he has and I think that's perfectly fine. He is a very presidential appearing man, has good charisma, and nothing bad in his background. I would vote for him. -- Check out my blog: http://getyournews.blogspot.com/
  2. I can't go into a lot of details because I haven't delved deep into any of them. But I like Mitt and his program for Health Care. It keeps the government the hell out of it, and it directs people who can afford it to re-prioritize their budget to get it. I have a good gut feel for him, but I'll let you know more as I begin my quest of tearing them all to shreds and see who survives.
  3. Best book on this subject is "Mormon in the white house? 10 things you should know about Mit Romney" by Hugh Hewitt It details a lot of good things about mit and gets some really great details in there.
  4. http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm Re: Mitt Romney: PROS: Romney is against abortion & opposes same sex-marriage, and he's been aggressive in courting the Christian right. He's consulted with Falwell & Franklin Graham & is scheduled to deliver the graduation address at Robertson’s Regent University this spring. CONS: Evangelicals are skeptical of Romney's Mormon faith, but it's his alleged flip-flops that could really hurt. In his 1994 Senate & 2002 gubernatorial bids, Romney supported abortion rights & gay rights, positions he reversed as he prepared for a White House run. Last week Sam Brownback's campaign questioned his credibility. Source(s): Newsweek 2/26/07 edition
  5. I like him. I don't care that he is Mormon either. We have the same political views though he is more conservative then I. He knows what he is talking about and he isn't brown nosing anybody. The only main issue I worry about right now is the war in Iraq. I don't want to hear another I will pull the troops out by October 2008, or use Bush's stupid plan by putting new troops in Iraq. I want a different take from someone else with different strategies. He isn't doing that. However, that won't make me stop voting for him. Unless something drastic happened. I am with him on abortion gay marriage- No gay marriage but should have rights and benefits. support the death penalty Taxes should no be raised. Those simple things. the only issue that might make us go eehh is the war in Iraq. But time will tell my feeling are strong with him.
  6. I don't know. I am not sure I trust him. He reminds me of all of the other teflon presidents we've had. I don't know if his new views are his true views. Similar feelings led me to vote against Kerry. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/03/16/romneys_words_grow_hard_on_immigration/
  7. If elections were today Id vote for him, because he is against illegal immigration. But its a long time till elections so I will have to see if I would still vote for him in 2008.Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio Tells FOX News Why Mitt Romney Picked Him for Presidential Campaign Wednesday, February 28, 2007 By Sara Bonisteel Controversial Arizona sheriff known for making his inmates wear pink underwear and eat green bologna turned his back on his state's favored presidential candidate, opting instead to join forces with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The Romney camp appointed Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio Monday as honorary chair of the campaign in the state of Arizona. "The first time I met the governor at a private meeting, first thing he said was 'How's the pink underwear doing?'" Arpaio told FOXNews.com Wednesday. Romney asked Arpaio to join his campaign in early January after several meetings, said Arpaio, who has made his name with a tough stance on immigration in the nation's fourth largest county. Click here for FOXNews.com' s 2008 You Decide center. "I like him," Arpaio said. "He's a man of principle, of good character. He did a great job in Massachusetts and I feel he's going to make a great president." The sheriff, who was born and raised in Massachusetts, says his role in the campaign will include touting the Republican candidate in speeches throughout the state, and possibly the nation, where the tough-talking sheriff will stress Romney's ethics, his family life and his business acumen as reasons to vote him into office. But Arpaio's decision to support the former Massachusetts governor begs the question as to why he decided to shirk the hometown candidate, Sen. John McCain . Arpaio refused to answer that question directly, choosing instead to allude to the Vietnam War hero. "Arizona's important, maybe psychologically and politically because you have a fella here from Arizona running for president," Arpaio said. "And I guess, the hometown boy or the favorite son, they always seem to win; however don't forget, was it Gore that lost his own state in Tennessee? "So I feel Mr. Romney has a great chance to win Arizona regardless of what polls and everybody else said," he said. He called former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, also running for president, a "nice guy." Maricopa County's sheriff made headlines last year for his controversial application of an anti-smuggling law that allowed him to jail illegal immigrants for smuggling themselves into the U.S. Inmates in the county, which includes Phoenix, are housed in a tent city where they are forced to wear pink underwear and eat green bologna. "I'm sure the governor believes in my philosophy too," Arpaio said. "He sure would not be asking for my endorsement if he didn't believe in what I'm doing." But Romney will have to win office before he'll get a chance to tour the tents. Four losing presidential contenders — Sens. Bob Dole, McCain, Phil Gramm and Gov. Pete Wilson — have toured the facility. Arpaio doesn't want to jinx Romney into being the fifth. The Romney 2008 campaign also named Arizona political consultant Jason Rose as the state director of Romney's Republican bid for office. "Each has many years of experience in Arizona politics and will help us mobilize our already robust network of grassroots support," said Romney in a statement. "They will be strong surrogates for our optimistic message of a stronger and safer America."
  8. I think Mitt Romney is an Republican joke, and a bad one. Here's a man who less than three years ago was pro-choice and gay friendly. But that wasn't going to get him the Republican support he craved was it? So now he's 100% against pro-choice and thinks gays are immoral. Give me a break. And they call Hillary opportunistic. What is even more ridiculous is that his supporters say it's okay for a man to change his mind. Funny they couldn't feel that way about Kerry isn't it? Could it be because he conveniently changed his views to stick his nose up the rearends of the far right? Every time I hear one of them say "well a man has a right to change his mind" I know full well they wouldn't be saying that if a man's change of heart was opposite of what they approve of. What a bunch of hypocrites, it's amazing. If they run Romney the Democrats will tear him apart for flip-flopping the same way the Republicans did to Kerry - and he'll deserve every bit of it. How can we put trust a man in the Oval Office that changes his opinion to bolster his own ambitions? We've had six years of that kind of garbage already, enough enough enough.
  9. He's a flip-flopper and a Bush clone. His dad and grandpa were both politicians themselves, just like Dubya's. He's flip-flopped on the social issues and claims to be for free markets despite signing Socialized Medicine into law in his state. It's a crime to possess a gun under any circumstances in his state (partly thanks to laws he signed), but he's a NRA member. He's probably got the least integrity of all the GOP frontrunners. The bad news is that McCain is a Bush lacky, Giuliani is a socially liberal Bush, and Gingrich tried to impeach Clinton for infidelity while he was cheating on his own wife. I definitely can't vote for Obama or Clinton either. I definitely don't want Socialized Medicine or further expansion of Government Schools (including Billy's failed School Uniform plan, which Hillary will probably resurrect). Hopefully, a grassroots candidate will emerge who is legitimately anti-war, for free markets, and has no record of hypocrisy.
  10. He is a flip-flopper with no strong convictions. In 1994, he said he when running for Senate against Ted Kennedy he said he will protect a woman's right to choose. Romney even gave us a little sob story about how his friend died from an illegal abortion. In 2002, as running for governor he gave the same response and reirated his position that he was pro-choice. Then, he vetoed a bill that would allow rape victims to be given the morning-after pill but the legislature overrode it. Thank God. He lies and he says he had an 'epiphany' when he spoke with Harvard scienticists about embryonic cloning for stem cell. But the scienticist says that meeting never happened. Below you can see how he flip-flops his position on these things just in time for the presidential election.
  11. I think he's awesome. I think he's a great example, a great leader, a great family man, a great business man, a person with morals and values and the best interests of this country in mind, and the ability to accomplish great things. So many times I have felt we had a choice of the lesser of two evils to vote for, like pick the one that is least offensive. With Mitt I feel like I could be voting FOR someone for the first time in many elections, rather than against someone else.
