What does Mitt Romney need to do to win Michigan?
I've read how important it is for him to come out ahead there. I volunteered to be make phone calls from home today and of the people that didn't hang up, all of them either were supporting Romney or were convinced to support him after talking to me. What really shocked me were the people who said they were planning on voting, but who didn't know anything about the candidates or where they stood on issues. If you were in Romneys shoes, would you do exactly what he's doing or is there more that he can do?

- Get more votes than the other guys.
- it'll take more than he's got - except money, maybe
- If I were Romney, I'd cut my losses and go home.
- well, he could take out contracts on the other candidates, or offer 50 bucks per vote...having every possible position on every single issue certainly hasn't worked out too well for him
- I don't know that he has to win Michigan, to remain viable as a candidate. I'll admit the primary system is confusing. Huckabee won Iowa, McCain won New Hampshire, but Romney has more delegates than either of them. Suppose somebody else wins Michigan, Romney finishes second again, and still has the most delegates? But I'm still counting on Florida to show us who the true front runner will be. Vote for Rudy!
- He lost a lot of credibly with the negative ads, and the Mlk thing. But he seems like a nice enough fellow. If he would just stick to the issues and quit worrying about the other candidates. I think he will do a lot better, Just be his self and tell the truth , that's what people want is the truth where we like what we hear or not. McCain and Thompson Picked up on that real quick and both shot up on the polls. We don't want a pretty speech we want the truth. good and bad.
- give up, there is no way he is winning. Hillary sucks
- He needs to create an even bigger upset than Hillary did in New Hampshire. Somehow, I don't see it happening, do you?
- I would stop speaking with empty rhetoric. I would not run a self-financed campaign. I would never bring up my flimsy record. I would stop running attackkkk aaaaaaaaaddddddssss.
- I really believe that if nothing else, the ABC debates really were a mucked up piece of business for Romney. I think he particularly did himself in when answering and debating the healthcare questions. He demonstrated, quite handily, that he is out of touch w/ a majority of Americans ....though there are probably people who can afford healthcare and won't pay for it unless forced to - as Romney stated, I believe that there are many many more folks who independently, or as small business owners, are being socked w/ very high premiums, high deductibles and the dirty little business of insurance companies who continually try to squirm out of paying their end of the deal .....I do not think that Romney can do anything, at this point, to make himself seem to understand the "average" American. He has successfully painted himself as out of touch and one giant step above the norm.
- He needs to stick with his platform of being the best candidate for the economy. Mitt has other major accomplishments in the area of education and healthcare, and a great platform in illegal immigration, but the economy by far is his greatest advantage. Mitt's accomplishment span both the private and public sector, turning around companies without layoffs and turning $400 million loss in the Olympics into a $100 million profit. In MA he reduced taxes several times and balanced the budget every year. This is a tough accomplishment considering MA overwhelming Democratic majority. I'm surprised he could get anything done here, but he did. When Mitt came into office in Massachusetts, there was a $3,000,000,000 (billion) deficit. Even with all the tax and spend liberal legislation in this state, increasing spending especially in 2006 (the liberals blew our rainy day fund), Mitt used his veto power wisely and when he left office there was a surplus. Mitt proposed out tax free shopping day, which we have each year in August. He proposed property tax relief for senior citizens. Mitt was talking green before it became so popular this election. Back in 2002 he proposed a 10 year moratorium on sales tax for hybrid vehicles. Getting this country of dependence on foreign oil is a priority for him. As we move to independence, we will also be helping our economy, adding jobs, focusing on technology, right here at home. Mitt cares about education. In MA Mitt and the legislature established and funded a scholarship program for the top 25% of high school students to go to any of the state's 4 year colleges and universities tuition-FREE. Mitt just needs to focus on what he has done in the past and what he will do in the future. I have been volunteering on the campaign here and there also and give you a lot of credit. It's pretty hard. I believe Mitt is the best man for the job.
- He currently has MORE delegates than any other candidate. The media fails to report that little statistic. Ther person with the most delegates...wins! He might have finished 2nd place in NewHampshire and Iowa, but he still has more delegates because he had such a strong 2nd place finish both times, and even though McCain won in NH and Huckabee won in Iowa, neither of them did very well in the other state. so the media keeps saying "if Mitt doesnt' win Michigan, he's finished." But what if he comes in 2nd again, and gets lots of delegates again, and still has more than any of the others? I think he will win Michigan though, so it will be a moot point.
