Which is the better of two evils regarding Mitt Romney voting bias?
There are a lot of people who WILL NOT vote for Mitt Romney soley because he is Mormon (people who don't like Mormons or think they are wierd). There are also a lot of people who WILL vote for him just because he is Mormon (people who are Mormons themselves). We should be voting for people that share our point fo view on where this country needs to go. But regarding the two voting biases listed above, which is the worse reason to vote/not to vote for someone?

- They are both equally wrong. You shouldn't vote for someone on the basis of their religion or lack thereof. They are running for president -not for saint.
- Both have their negatives. Its not an abomination to refuse to vote for someone because you do not believe they have the same values as you. Many believe Mormons do not share Judeo-Christian values which are important to them. I believe this is mainly true not because people disagree with Mormons, but because they fear what they do not understand. People fear the unknown more than a a known enemy, and few people know much about the Mormon faith. I don't agree, but I can respect that values are an important factor. I think that anyone who suggests that it is ignorant to vote for someone based on their religion is being naive. It is an important part of many peoples lives in this country. It is fundamental to the founding of this country. Yes we should be cautious, but advocating ignoring religion altogether is just ridiculous, how can you ignore such a fundamental thing in so many peoples lives? Certainly the latter choice, of Mormons voting for Mormons is far less controversial. Thus, Romney will pull Nevada, Utah, and Idaho.
- I could care less if he worships a cow. He is an empty shirt and only wants the power and prestige of the office. He could care less about John Q public
- I think you are over - estimating the impact his religion will have on voters. If he could be consistent on the issues and appeal to his parties base OR appeal to the moderates in this country I think he will win. The problem is that he can't seem to keep his message straight. That is holding him back - not his religion.
- I wouldn't vote for Mitt only because he's a businessman. Businessmen will sell out their own Mother to get to the top of the corporation, they will do the same in politics.
- Him being a Mormon, He being a Republican is a joke.
- There are far, far more people who will not vote for Romney because he is Mormon than will vote for him. Let's be realistic. http://www.allaboutmormons.com
- They're equally bad reasons. I like Romney. I don't like Harry Reid. They're both Mormon. If I discriminated religiously I'd either vote for both of them or neither of them. They have completely different outlooks and policies. We're voting for a President, not a sunday school teacher.
