What has been done to guarantee this presidential election will no be a repeat of the year 2000 election?

The year 2000 presidential election was a mess. Millions of dollars of legal fees were spent. Millions of people were questioning George Bush's election victor... What has been done to prevent another election disaster?

  1. Al Gore is not running.
  2. With this being the year of the computerized ballot, I have heard nothing to fix the faults. Think we may be in for a rocky count.
  3. Nothing - FL still has polling issues. So same story different cast members.
  4. We sent the retards back to third grade to learn how to vote.
  5. If they Democrats lose, you'll hear it all over again.
  6. Well, for starters, Al Gore isn't on the ticket. Seriously, though, there's not much that can be done. Florida was pretty much a tie, and was the deciding state. It really doesn't matter what's done to improve the election machines, because they can never be 100% perfect all of the time, and when a race is that close, they'll contest everything they can. So, to answer your question, nothing has been done that could prevent that again. The only saving grace is that it's a very rare event -- 2000 was a "perfect storm."
  7. Nothing. The american people need to WAKE UP....the Republic is being HIJACKED by the corporate elite. Ron Paul is THE ONLY candidate not pandering to these people.
  8. absolutely nothing... Washington has already decided the next president for us... the voice of the PEOPLE is not being heard! they are just all fabricated results! RON PAUL r3VOLution!
  9. Not enough. Run-off elections are needed to fix those problems but neither of the twin parties wants to take the chance that voters might be more willing to vote for third party candidates as their first choice if they could vote for a second choice.
  10. nothing! but i think you already know that. corporate money talks in the fascist states of america. does it make you feel better to know that its not just one sided? this time its backing hillary.
  11. The 2000 election has been covered up and the facts distorted and hidden. The 2008 elections are simply fixed in a new form. Remember thoughs with power will rule. And power isn't always money.
  12. nothing has been done, nothing will be done. It could happen again tomorrow. It wasn't really about anything other than "What can they do to put their guy in office?" Both parties do it when ever they can. If they wanted to fix this they could. You they telling us that everyday millions of people can safely bank from home but they can't have electronic voting? You can file your taxes online from home but you couldn't trust people to vote online? The reason is that they couldn't have the court case to fight with suce a clear record of the votes. They are still voting with paper in some states. Are you kiding me.
  13. If the Democrats don't win, they're going to question it's legitimacy. That doesn't mean it was done wrong it just means that they're sore loosers. It wasn't a disaster people choose the leader they wanted. George Bush did not fix the voting machines. There's no way he could have accomplished that with out some one spilling the beans. Get over it already.
  14. The Democrats questioned the Florida process which they designed only because they lost. Dems will whine no matter what, all the more so now because so many people took their BS in 2000 so seriously.
  15. Find a Democrat that's not such a sore loser.
  16. Nothing has changed..... Want to see change? I am voting for Ron Paul. Check him out - www.ronpaul2008.com. He's honest - yes, honest. Ron Paul is the best hope we have, and the mainstream media will not cover him. Why? Because the mainstream media is owned by large corporations that buy and pay for politicians, and Ron Paul can't be bought. Ron Paul's campaign donations come from people like you and me - not large corporations. Check him out - you'll love this guy!!
  17. McCain, who WILL be the next president!!! There will be no doubt as to the victory!!! Bush got more votes than any president in history in 2004, and if Clinton is nominated he will get ALL of those, plus millions more!!! If Gore is chosen to break the Clinton, Obama stalemate, they will insist that Clinton be the VP, making defeat of that ticket certain!!! Clinton is NOT electable!!!
  18. There is nothing that can be done to prevent such a thing from happening. Politically, we are trapped in a system of diminished returns. The power of the vote lies in the hands of the young right now. They are the largest group of voters, and more importantly, the largest group of non-voters. Last election, less than 50% of the total voting-age population actually voted. Which means our President was elected by less than 25% of those able to vote for him. One of the main reasons why people don't vote is because they are disenfranchised with the idea of voting. "My vote doesn't count" "Why should I vote, the other guy is going to win anyway" "They're all liars and crooks anyway" These are the thoughts perpetuated by our voting-age youth, as well as reinforced and encouraged by corporate politics. The less the power lies in the hands of the people, the more it lies in the hands of corporate interests. The end result is a mindset of political apathy of unprecedented proportions. Never before in our history has communication and information been so available. Instead of waiting back for the political parties to expose each other's dirty laundry, we have the capacity to look back through each one's individual histories through the power of hundreds and thousands of people individually presenting to the collective. THAT is Democracy. The power of the people. Only the Internet has the ability to put every single person (okay, most people) into part of the collective consciousness. We all have a voice now. We must use it. That is where the power of the people comes from. Not the threat...but the application of our voices and our actions. The electronic voting machines, however, only threaten our power. They are the ultimate representation of the power of corporate politics. The error count and the failure rate of these machines is incredible. And the fact that they are being supported on many levels by political players only lends more weight to the suspicion that the inaccuracies are more than just incidental. To cater to today's voice, and the apathy with which it is struck dumb, there would have to be an internet election. A specific site, login, ID-verification, and tracking process with which to maintain the utmost in accuracy. If there are areas that do not have computers or access, machines can be brought around (just like they already do with voting machines, except one person can set up a computer) to be set up in local schools or churches. And then, the only challenge to the voice of the people will be from a handful of dedicated hackers. Ah, the voice of the youth...lol. "It's not who votes that counts. It's who counts the votes."
