How does Obama plan on winning a general election when he cant win any swing states?

Does he have some magic dust or something he's going to sprinkle around that will change the election numbers? Does he think he's going to break 100 years + trends and win somehow?

  1. He's already breaking those trends, he's the first viable African-American candidate.
  2. I don't know, but I'm not ready to vote for someone who is for the legalization of marijuana. That is frightening.
  3. He cannot win a general election with only 1/2 the party supporting him. Look at 1968 and 1980 democratic history in general elections, Dems had split party and lost.
  4. Yeah.
  5. Honestly I have no idea. As an Indy voter who could vote for the Democratic nominee in November, I have watched the exit polls from Ohio on and the fact he continuously fails to pull in many of that core voting block makes me question whether or not he can actually win. Currently I'm leaning toward no. He had momentum and almost total favorable press when he won Wisconsin but I figured some of those numbers would still carry over to other primaries. They haven't -- outside of the black vote of course.
  6. The real question is, how is Hillary going to win the nomination when she's nearly 200 delegates behind? Overthrow the popular vote?
  7. Actually he did win a couple of swing states, NOT that I'm trying in anyway to show support for Obama. Still, when it comes to necessary Democratic wins for November, he tends to fall short. W.V. is an important swing state, he was trounced, trampled, steam rolled. It was embarrassing. He didn't even win N.C. by as much as Hillary won W.V. When you seat Michigan and Florida (yes the way they are because Obama CHOSE to keep his name off the ballot in Michigan, he CHOSE to disenfranchise those voters and now he has to sleep in the bed he made) she'll have the popular vote and his argument and the argument of his supporters will be tossed right out the proverbial window.
  8. He doesn't play by the regular rules, like most candidates have in the past. I am confident in his fundraising abilities and organization of activism that he will be able to turn some traditionally red states into blue ones. Also, you gotta keep in mind that just because he lost some states in the primaries, doesn't mean he will lose them in the G.E.
  9. That's the same question I am asking myself. Hillary has won most of the key states that need to be won by a Democrat to win the GE. While Obama's wins mostly go to the Republicans.
  10. because he is not going to win the general election. anyone with a brain will see that a person who had so much trouble winning the nomination has no chance in the general election.
  11. "Can't win any swing states." Obama has won 12 swing states (if you count his coming win in Oregon next week) to Hillary's 9. (if you count FL and MI) Don't count those, and it's 11-7. Believe it or not, Obama has won more swing states, more blue states, more red states, more caucuses, more primaries, and the same number of big states as Clinton.
  12. There's no such thing as a swing state. It's a figment of the media's imagination. If such a thing was significant we should just amend the constitution and let those so-called swing states pick the president and save the rest of us the trouble. When did these swing states come into existence? 1776? 1916? Yesterday? I for one would not care for West Virginians or anti-Castro Floridians to pick the president, a surefire way of putting someone in the presidency who will make us more of a political laughing stock than we already are to the enlightened world. Make your case with copious information don't repeat the nonsense coming from the media. How did those swing states elect Kennedy, a Catholic. You could have made a case then that a Catholic would never be elected and go back all the way to 1776 to buttress your flimsy argument.
  13. He can't but he and his followers want you to think that he can.
  14. He won the following swing states: Missouri Wisconsin Minnesota Colorado Next question.
  15. I commend you for your patriotism. Unlike Obama, Hillary will not turn numbers around. I urge you with Hillary's fightin spirit to go to my website www.just_sayin.com and donate all you can to support this Godly woman. We will climb this mountain!
  16. The answer is very simple; Obama can't win the general election without the swing states. Obama is simply trying to con the DNC into nominating him anyway... even though he will loose the general election. The electoral math says he can't win, and so it will be great news for McCain if they just nominate him anyway.
  17. He is already breaking those trends. Plus he will still probably win the swing states as well as others. Face it Obama will be president!
  18. He won't....McCain will win...and Obama will take down the DNC with him....people are getting sick and tired of their stupidity! I think Independents have more options in voting than Democrats or Republicans in open states....
