If Ron Paul is not a serious contender, then why has he won numerous straw polls?

Either the media is lying and trying to push Ron Paul out of the Race, or the straw polls don't tell the truth. Independ...Ron Paul is NOT pro-abortion...He is a OB-GYN for GOD'S SAKE! And most Americans are against the Patriot act and also the war...including the GOP. They realize that LOYAL Patriots stand by the Constitution and not tear it down like the "patriot" act does.

  1. A straw poll is not an election.
  2. I bet some straw polls would also show belief in alien visitors to earth
  3. If it's an online straw poll, that is where his support base is.
  4. Straw polls are completely useless. They are notorious for being events that politicians bus voters to, and pay the voters to go vote for them as well. Straw polls are really nothing more than campaign fundraisers. This is something that either Paul's supporters don't want to understand, or can't understand for some reason. Here, this link can help you understand what straw polls are really for: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/07/AR2007080701730.html
  5. Never trust anyone who has 2 first names for a full name
  6. Can you provide links to these 'straw polls' that Ron Paul has won??? I know that there were several straw polls that went in favor of Huckabee but I have not heard of any that favored Ron Paul. Please provide proof of these statements!
  7. For many, RP is not a serious contender because most people are not comfortable with that much change or they see some of his views as wildly out of whack. For others, he is a serious contender because polls don't matter, only elections matter.
  8. I don't care what he's won.... He's at about 5 percent... Sorry to disappoint you but he ain't gonna win..... The only one that has shown a good increase is Huckabee.
  9. I don't think he was a serious contender 6 months ago, but more people are taking him seriously. He is obviously a very brilliant man. His record is the least hypocritical of any politician ever. I think his views are great, but I think he should be a little lighter on his views that we shouldn't have millitary bases throughout the world. Unfortunately, sad but true, we do need to be the world police officer. However, we can still eliminate much govt. waste without decreasing dramatically (but we can decrease some) are involvement in foreign affairs. I really love Ron Paul. He is a great man, and he has my vote. My 2nd vote goes to Romney. I also love McCain as a person, but I don't necessarily think he'd be a great President. THE MEDIA doesn't want Paul to win as he is too extreme for them. He speaks with a conscience, and he doesn't speak to the interests of them. Hubert D ... Even if Paul doesn't win, he's made positive influences in politics. Stand by your convictions, US will one day go bankrupt if we don't open our EYES. These are strong considerations for going with Paul.
  10. You will see the answer on Jan. 3rd when he goes down in flames.
  11. Maistream Media Hates RON PAUL!
  12. I am tired of setting you Ron Paul groupies straight. Let's just wait for the primaries, it won't be long now. I hope you don't bawl too loudly when your guy loses big time. Of course you guys will come up with every excuse in the book other than he is a bad choice for a number of reasons.
  13. The media is telling you what to think. they are telling you that he is not a serious contender and they are telling you that he's winning straw polls. He may be winning straw polls because people who care are voting in the straw polls but the majority of those who vote are watching TV right now and when the TV tells them who is the best they go out and vote for Romney. That is why the media says what it says, because by saying that it makes it true to some people and they want to vote for who the TV says is the best. The media makes Ron Paul look like a loon when in fact he is our best choice for president this election.
  14. Ron Paul is doing better than the media wants all to believe, because the media is owned by the globalist and Ron Paul is a thorn in their side.
  15. Ron Paul is not making a serious run for any of the primaries, which is where it counts. Thus, he is considered by many a "fringe" candidate, because he appears to have no chance of winning a primary. He is also trying to win the Republican nomination with a pro-abortion, anti-war, anti-Patriot Act campaign. There's no way the religious base of the party will accept that, and you can't win the Republican nomination without pandering to the religious right of the Republican party. As for his campaign, I admire his ability to raise funds, and his keen management of building a base of supporters in colleges and on the internet. However, did you see his performance on Meet the Press? The man was a bumbling, fumbling disaster. While I like some of the libertarian ideals of Ron Paul, his lack of eloquence, his inability to articulate his ideas, his stammering over difficult questions, and his record of earmarks, graft and pork-barrel practices in his own district, make him very difficult to take as a serious candidate. If you can't stand up to Tim Russert, there's no way you'll stand up to the pressures of the American presidency. Most importantly, if you don't tell the religious right of the Republicans exactly what they want to hear, you're not going to win many primaries, and you'll never be the Republican nominee. This is why many of us (not just the 'media') feel he has no change of making a significant impact on the presidential election. If he ran as an independent however, he'd have a shot of at least making a significant impact, but he has already ruled that possibility out as you know.
  16. Lots of nuts vote in a straw poll.
  17. Ron says what people want to hear. Let me try it: If elected I will jail most republicans, return the dollar to a hard currency, regain out national reputation developed over 250 years, re-establish freedom, separate church from government, build the economy before we slip completely into...depression! Sound good? So does what Ron says. The problem is look around you, what you see is what you got with Republicans in charge. Ron IS A REPUBLICAN !!!
