Is Barack Obama running for President just for the sake of becoming President?

Most intelligent Americans want to hear and see more substance in his campaign (i.e. - how exactly is he going to implement the "change" that he promises, what exactly does his proposed "change" entail?, etc.) However, he isn't answering any of the serious questions that intelligent Americans are inquiring about. It seems like he is just telling people what they want to hear in order to get votes. Does Obama really care about the American people, or is he just running for President because it'll make him look good?

  1. Thats a dumb question... if you become president and suck it up, then you'll wind up being hated. I really don't see him dodging hard questions. Every time I see someone ask him a question... he answers it, often times more so then other candidates do.
  2. I wonder the same question but I don agree. I think he is in it for the fame. I personaly dont want him in office because I dont think he could do a good job of being president if there was ever major chaos in america. He wont get my vote.
  3. That is my feeling, that he is much moved and impressed with the historical import of the possibility of him becoming President. He certainly isn't qualified except for his desire which really isn't worth much in the Oval Office. Didn't do Clinton much good anyway.
  4. I THINK MAYBE HIS INTENTIONS MAY BE GOOD, BUT HE IS IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM READY OR ABLE TO REPRESENT THIS COUNTRY AND BRING ABOUT SAID CHANGES....THAT IN ITSELF IS NAIVE AND IDEALISTIC, WHICH IS PROOF HE IS TALKING OUT THE SIDE OF HIS NECK. OBAMA FOR PREZ? NO WAY, NO HOW!
  5. he has none, vote hillary.
  6. What do you want to know? He has a gazillion pages on Issues at his website and a gazillion more speeches and two books.
  7. no, he wants to bring changes to people. he got dollars from Oprah, only wants to give changes to people, not good. seriously, i don't have a clue why he's running. but i just don't buy his change BS.
  8. obama is doing this just to be written in the history books as the first black president... i totally agree on how you say that obama has NOT exactly say how he is going to implement the change.. for me, he's all about talking the talk.. what sad is that (and i know that this state doesnt have much say electorally wise), but most of hawaii is poised to vote for him just because he was born and raised in hawaii. not that obama gives a damn.. and that also hawaii can make a claim that they sent a man to become president.. oh please..
  9. Pretty much everything you just said. He just tells the public what they want to hear. No one knows what he is going to do as president. He is young and inexperienced. He can't even make up his mind by choosing a religion-all the other candidates have. He simply says he's "Christian" I think the main reason for this is because he's lived his whole life up until he started running for office as a Muslim, if he says a specific religion, people will ask him questions about it, and he won't know how to answer because he's really Muslim! This is just one example of how he can't make up his mind...
  10. Then you are not an intelligent American because you don't want to learn. Here's just a few things.....you can most certainly find out much more about all candidates by going online . That might work for you. He voted against the war in 2002, and wants all troops home by March 31. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress. As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, He is working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars. He traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. He supports raising the minimum wage. He believes 20% of US energy needs to be met by renewable resources by 2020. He belives in securing the borders by more border patrol and better technology and require employers to verify employees immigration status.
  11. It seems to me that he really thinks he cares about the American people. He thinks he truly has a substantial plan for the country. He really believes in himself and what he supposedly has to offer as president. As for how that cuts it as being enough for the people who want to vote for him, I'll never understand. He has his ideas and dream/hope of this "change" we keep hearing about but there's no doubt in my mind that if he was elected and was faced with the things that actually need to improve, he would crack under the pressure. I know the topic of him being inexperienced has been beaten to the ground with redundancy, but the fact is, he has very little experience in politics. He has no idea as to what he's getting himself into by GUARANTEEING change. What's going to happen if he's elected and his plans fail? It's all going to be on him because there will be no one else to blame. It's extremely foolish of him to promise and assure people of some mind-blowing and extraordinary change. It's one thing to say that you believe things can change, but it's an entirely different thing to swear that you can undoubtedly make those things change immediately. I don't hate him or think he's a huge liar, but he needs to be more careful about what he promises before it negatively catches up to him.
