What are some pros and cons of Electing Ron Paul for President of The United States?
Public Comments
- There are no pros but the cons are that we would have an isolationist leading the worlds superpower. It would be an international catastrophe to elect such a loon.
- No pros and No cons. He is not the Republican nominee yet. Let's see what happens in the convention. The delegates have not cast their votes yet. They can easily vote for someone else in the convention in September. Endorsement in the Republican Party may not have superdelegates, but the so-called awared delegates don't have to vote for McCain, and if they don't they may never be allowed to vote again at the convention, but if they vote for one of the other candidates at convention and not McCain, he is out and the other candidate is in. (McCain knows the deal.)
- One of the cons is that by eliminating our military presence worldwide would be a dangerous decision, and if we were to have to fight a major war would be put at a much worse strategical situation as opposed to if he would not close all our overseas bases.
- He is still running. Check out his web site for details. He is not isolationist. Trade with all nations but don't get involved in their politics is a non-interventionist stance and one our Founding Fathers instructed us to follow. As for the pros: He would bring our troops home and strengthen our national defense. For people who think this is a disastrous policy, look at Switzerland. It's a wonderful policy. Be prepared, but let's not start wars. Our Founding Fathers would be appalled. The global community overwhelming would like to see Ron Paul in the White House as would our active duty military personnel. There's a reason for that. He believes anything you subsidize you get more of. We need to stop subsidizing illegal immigration. Instead, we should welcome those immigrants who truly want to be American, who are eager to learn the English language and who are good for America. He's the only candidate who understands the economy. He has studied economics with some of the foremost authorities on the subject and is considered an economic expert. He has studied not only the economy but monetary policy which is key. He believes health care should be kept between the doctor and patient. He feels that we need to cut government waste. If you're really interested in what he has to say, go to the 20/20 interview available on You Tube. He covers most of the major issues in 30 minutes during the six part series. As for the $500 donation, RP openly proclaimed that he does not support this cause. The President of the NAACP went on national radio to declare Ron Paul is NOT a racist. Ron Paul 2008.
- Instead of holding and kissing babies, he could deliver them. That would be a tough act to follow! Seriously, though, I don't agree with many of his views, but his candor is wonderfully refreshing. He never seems rehearsed, he seems sincere. That is one thing I do admire in him.
- He can't get on the ballot in most States. Deadlines have passed. The process is very expensive and there are no organized efforts for Paul. It's now likely that Bob Barr will be the Libertarian candidate for President, which could have been a possibility for Paul, except that he decided to run again for his congressional seat. As much as everyone liked him, he's dropped out. Writing him in will get you nowhere. Try to find an alternative. If all else fails, vote for the least of the evils.
- The pros are He is intelligent, has good ideas and trustworthy, would put what is good for the country has a whole over special interest, didn't vote for the Iraq war and of coarse we wouldn't have Stupid in the oval office. It seems the GOP just can't get their act together. Eight years ago Mac Cain should had been the choice but who did they elect the W mostly known as Stupid, an embarrassment, ashamed, arrogant and dangerous. The con is his age factor it would be nice to know who he would have as a vice P running mate.
- PROS? There's a billion of them. Complete Personal Liberty No more Patriot Act No more IRS Strengthened borders Strengethened National Security Debt Repaid No more wars Friendship with other countries Net Neutrality secured Gun Ownership and Second Amendement rights All the Constitutional Rights CONS Are there even cons?
- The only con would be....... wait i can think of one.......... If you want to go to see more NASA programs so we can see how much methane is on saturn, and waste money then that is a con.
- To Bravozulu: Dr. Paul is NOT an isolationist. He is a non-interventionist. Huge difference. What Mr. Paul advocates is to bring our troops home here, protect our borders, shores, because as far as I'm concerned, our borders do not extend in Iraq/Iran. He has the 'no more empire building' plan, which will require to reduce our troops overseas, which will require less overseas spending, lower our deficit, lower our debt, and give money back we owe to foreigners. If that were to happen, you would NOT be taxed anymore. At the same time, he follows Thomas Jefferson's idea of trading, traveling, and communicating with every nation in the world, not under barrel of a gun. Lastly, but not least, he may not win the nomination, but it is still possible because many GOP delegates vote on who best fits the conservative platform/ or Constitutional platform, and so far, Ron Paul has that old-traditional conservative record to prove it.
