How many negative votes can a Libertarian candidate get from a liberal community? RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!?

Public Comments

  1. How about, Ron Paul isn't going to be president, because he wont run as an independant.
  2. Ron Paul is a full of crap as the proverbial "Christmas Goose." His "I'll abolish the IRS my first week in office" shows how far in the ozone he really is.
  3. How does one cast a "negative vote?" You vote for a candidate not against one. Ron Paul is a dreamer.
  4. It ain't the liberals what is going to hamstring him. Them commie-servatives are going to go for Ghouliani. Then it's all downhill from there. Plus, Paul refuses to buck a corrupted party that doesn't respect him. Once he does that he'll just be the libertarian form of Al Gore. He's just not a giant weasle in human form enough. We can love him for that, but it doesn't win elections.
  5. Last time I checked Ron Paul was running on the Republican ticket. And he will more than likely get more votes from Liberals than he will from true Conservatives. And the Bunny Ranch/Nevada endorsement hurt him with Evangelicals. Don't get me wrong, I like Ron Paul and believe he is an honest and decent man, but the good ole boy Republican club will be his undoing, not Liberals.
  6. Eliminating almost all government programs, advocating for stronger state's rights (so conservative states can outlaw abortion, teach intelligent design in science class rooms, ban gay rights, civil rights, etc.), and overall whose policies would lead to a further widening of the rich/poor gap.... Sorry, being against the occupation of Iraq isn't enough to make up for those ultra-right wing and ultra-libertarian views Paul has. A real liberal would see that his policies would be almost more detrimental than those of the other Republicans running.
  7. I don't think he'll see too many defections from the liberal camp, unfortunately. Bush has helped hammer home the notion in liberal's heads that a democrat, ANY democrat, will be better than a republican, ANY republican. Hence their front runner is Hillary Clinton, whose voting record is almost a perfect match to Bush! Hillary Clinton is a neo-con! But the liberal community absolutely refuses to see that. Throw in the fact that Ron Paul is anti-abortion and doesn't support social welfare programs (the backbone of the liberal ideology) and most liberals will grudgingly respect his views on Iraq while castigating him on every other stance he holds. I think if the liberals want to cast a negative vote they'll migrate to the green or reform parties. But a true liberal is as far from a Libertarian as a true conservative. And Paul is more conservative than libertarian. The ideologies just don't mesh. It'd be like a conservative, fed up with the horror the republican party has become, voting for a socialist. It just won't happen.
  8. I'm not entirely sure I understand your question, but I'm a liberal that supports Ron Paul. EDIT: Liberal = Idiot, he never said that he would be able to abolish the IRS his first week in office, he has already stated in the past that in order to implement his ideas he would have to compromise with Congress.. and the phasing out of the IRS does not abolish said taxes only the income tax which is used to pay back interest to the FED for printing their worthless money. EDIT: Frank, Gay rights? Ron Paul supports their rights, he voted an against the amendment banning gay marriages.. He doesn't see the Constitutional authority of the federal government to involve itself in such a matter. As for the abortion issue, as president he does not have the authority to overturn Roe vs. Wade, only the Supreme Court can do that.. so it’s not an issue.. As for “ending programs” he is for ending federal government involvement, not ending the programs. This not only eliminates the politicizing and corporatism, but makes these programs more effective because they are no longer “a one size fits all” States have more flexibility/funds to address the specific problems of their state. And how does this widen the gap between the rich and the poor? You do realize that he will provide funding to those in need, in the form of tax credits?
