Why is Obama afraid to have a debate with John McCain at Town Hall meetings?
McCain wanted to have 10 Town Hall meetings with Obama with UNSCRIPTED questions from anyone in the audience. It doesn't matter what party they belonged to however Obama would not do it! Obama has been hiding behind his teleprompter and he has also been caught taking partial speeches from other people. Another words he has NOT been asked tough questions! Is Obama afraid that he couldn't handle John McCain in a REAL SUBSTANTIVE debate?

- Hahaha! McCain would look like a fool with Lieberman to correct him.
- yes.he can't handle anything that isn't scripted.that's when you here ,dddd yyyyy ooo uuuuu seeeeeee wwwwhh whhhh at tttthththhthhey ddddidiid
- he is afraid.... he is very afraid!!!! He wouldn't know what to say if it weren't all scripted out for him!
- He is not afraid he just does not want to do it this early.
- truth would hurt his campaign... There's a segment of the population that lives in a perpetual state of denial and they reject everything real and factual. This has been going on for decades. We have always regarded them as harmless liberals, but they're far more treacherous than that. They're actually "anti-reality" people. Instead of taking responsibility for their own lives, behavior and actions, they blame everyone who has understanding and exposes them for what they are
- Debating Hillary scared the beejeezus outta him. Now he's afraid to debate anyone. Reminds me of the Mr. Ed TV show theme song about the talking horse........the line "and Mr. Ed will never speak, unless he has something to say!"
- MCain doesnt have as much money. He wants as many debates as possible because it is free air time for him.
- Obama is ahead in the polls, therefore he has more to lose. McCain, with less money to spend in the months ahead (and now that Obama's declined public funding, it's estimated that he could be outspending McCain 5 to 1), McCain benefits more from the exposure. He's probably hurting himself more by not agreeing though, than he would by doing it. One of the reasons is that people EXPECT him to beat McCain in a debate, or at least did, and now that he won't accept he lowers his own expectations.
- Because Barry sounds like this without a carefully scripted speech, and teleprompter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxBX8sz3tO8&eurl= Hold on one sec, I cannot hear my feed!
- Obama is correct to not join McCain in his own town hall meetings. You are never at any advantage on the other guys turf. If Obama had offered the challenge first, McCain surely would have been wise to, and would have waffled at it. Obama would be fine with a town hall meeting set up independently. Anyways Obama has been too busy trying to find other ways to self destruct. p.s. I totally agree with pablo (above)
- Afraid!! Who in their right mind would be afraid of grandpa. Obama is not going to lift one finger to raise McCain's crummy profile. He is not going to do one thing to help McCain. McCain cant fill a room unless it consists of 65 senior citizens. I wouldnt debate with McCain either if I was winning. McCain would have to debate with me when I say and where I say and if he didnt like it, so what! McCain better get use to taking orders from Obama because it will be his position throughout this campaign and beyonddddddddddddddd
- I hear he only wants one on the 4th of July (when no one would be watching!!). If the dude can't debate in any kind of setting he is down the drain as far as I am concerned. I think he is afraid to answer questions impromptu and goodness we don't need a President who can't do that. Our Pres. must be flexible and able to go with the flow without someone holding his hand every second.
- Obama afraid?? A man who knew he would be attacked for who he is and what he stands for and still wants to be President? I don't think there is much Obama is afraid of.
- Because he would have to come up with answers to question on issues like the economy and the war .
- He is not afraid, but why should he debate McCain on his turf. I think Obama is very shrewd. Obama will destroy him in a traditional debate.
