Why did Rudy Giuliani loose in the Republican Party race to the presidency?

I mean : what did he make ? Why did he loose? He was announced as the favorite and completely bit the dust. But why?

1. Because he was a one trick pony ( 9/11) and had nothing else to run on. His track record and his associations came back to bite him. He never really made a serious effort to campaign and thought using the fear of a repeat 9/11 would propel him into the White House. He never made an effort in IA, then NH really could not stand him, his performances in the debates were laughable, he could never convince the Christian conservative wing of his party that he was genuine ( well it would have been hard with 3 marriages, including one to a cousin), his actual behavior during 9/11( he had been warned), his mistreatment of firefighters and his last stand strategy blew up. When his abuse of police to squire his then mistress, now wife, around, his using tax payers money to cover his tracks, Kerik, etc sent him down in flames. He spent $48 million and only came up with 1 delegate.

3. He has personal problems because he was married several times and has a rep as a cheater and a player. He has lots of skeletons in his closet with connections to the mob and he acted badly with the clean-up after 9-11. He is a total loser.
4. He had a very limited base of support within the Republican Party. He had credibility with the business and law and order crowds, but he could never have won over the religious right with his multiple marriages, cross-dressing, and living with his gay friends. Also, even most Republicans knew Rudy deserved to be "Mr. 9/11" about as much as a road kill possum deserves to be named driver of the year. It's not so much that he did little to nothing, it's that he wasn't even in a position to do anything worth taking credit. Even firefighters and cops in NYC didn't support him because he didn't give them the equipment they needed before 9/11, and didn't support them in labor negotiations after. His failure is ironic since Rudy is a true Republican, stripped of all the religious posturing: he parties hearty with his rich friends while the rest of us scavenge for scraps in the garbage dump.
5. He never really competed then he messed up the one race he thought he could win.
6. Found out he had mob connections and that would never do.
7. Because everyone knows he got rid of the 9/11 evidence before a real investigation could take place. He was nothing but a corrupt garbage man for a bunch of rich NY Jews.
