Is John McCain in trouble because of the conservatives even though he is the GOP nominee?
Many conservatives do not want McCain as the nominee and many have said they will vote for Hillary Clinton before John McCain. This is actually good news for us democrats. Opinions please.

- he's a democrats dream candidate
- He's so much in trouble that Huckabee has a chance at winning if McCain divides his party enough.
- He isn't the nominee yet. Funny, though, I've seen a bunch of Dems saying if he wins they'd vote for him. Unsettling, since I'm a Republican who would never vote for McCain.
- No, not really, considering the alternatives. In my play book it better to have a Republican President if there is a Democratic Congress, checks and balances you know. We all know what a disaster it is to have the same party in the Executive and Legislative branches.
- I'd have to say yes.
- All those who will be unhappy with the final two contenders...should get together and write-in RON PAUL! If Hillary does not get the nomination....it's Ron Paul for ME!
- John McCain is not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination. Since most Republicans are...He's going to win the nomination through the moderate vote.
- You can take the White House, for I wouldn't have posted any of the press's 'front runners' there with my vote. I will invest my votes in the house and senate and allow Obama and/or Hillary destroy us long enough for the people to see, if the press will allow it, so that we can dethrone them in in 2012.
- no. that's all spew. when the summer kicks in, you'll see the stark difference between McCain and Satan or Barrack. rush and Ann are just trying to sell books. they realize that they will have better ratings if a Dem is in office and they can rail against them in books or radio for four years. McCain is not that divisive, and so their ratings and books sales will go down. don't fall for Ann or rush right wingers., Ann and rush are salesmen before they are conservatives. vote MCCAIN.
- If we could get the word out about Ron Paul and get him elected, every American would win.
- I'm a Repub who has visited a few conservative blogs (especially Michelle Malkin's) and I'm very concerned that the scenario you describe will come true. It may very well be a repeat of the mid-term congressional elections. McCain is deeply distrusted by many conservatives.
- Okay, first off, John McCain is not the GOP nominee. I'm getting tired of people saying that because it's just not the case. It's okay to say he will likely receive the nomination, but let's not go jumping to conclusions here. And I think John McCain is definitely in trouble with conservatives. And will be in much more if the mainstream media ever decides to let people know that there is another Republican candidate running besides McCain & Huckabee. The only reason McCain has the primary and caucus wins he does is because most conservatives simply want anyone "who can beat Hillary". And for the record, I'm quoting all the neocons I know on that statement, not saying that myself. I'll gladly die before I compromise my vote. A vote for the lesser evil is STILL a vote for evil.
- This is funny: everyone is so unhappy with their candidate, their willing to switch parties. I'm a Republican. When Romney lost, I was going to vote for Hillary, but I’ve decided to write in Romney's name anyway. McCain is just too crazy. I guess you have to be crazy to run for President. (It’s best just to let the Democrats win this election. We have to send a clear message that we won’t accept a moderate candidate.)
- I liked him in the last election (I am independant) in this one I am very leery because he is courting the right wing religious fundementalists...but have to say he scares me much less than Hilary or Obama...but of course at his age his choice of vp will all important...time will tell.
- I don't want to burst your bubble, but voting results of late are proof positive that the moderate republicans in this country far out number the cry baby conservatives that think an 80% conservative voting record in the Senate is reason enough to label McCain as a liberal. We have had enough of partisan politics - we need someone with a track record of not being afraid to reach across party lines to try and solve the concerns that presently face our nation. What we don't need is more and more entitlements and a socialized health care program.
- Right wingers just don't realize that you can not govern from the extreme right no more than you can from the left. They need to calm down and quit acting like children. Republicans are always talking about Senator Clinton being divisive, yet they want an ultra conservative president and right wing judges on the courts. What hypocrites. They want a president that is lock step in line with the conservative dogma, and they are just mad because McCain is not built that way. The far left does the same thing with Hillary Clinton. The country needs a moderate president who can work with both political parties, be he or she republican or democrat.
- Believe me. When November comes, the conservatives will be supporting McCain, probably against Obama. Do not fret.
