How does John McCain plan on paying for five more years of war in Iraq?
Today, John McCain said that he sees victory in Iraq by 2013. Let's pretend for a minute that we can "win" by then. How does John McCain plan on paying for this war if he's opposed to raising taxes?
Public Comments
- TAX CUTS.
- John McCain will not pay for it. Congress will, which is democratically controlled... Ask them..
- he'll reach in our pockets and take what bush hasn't already taken.
- I don't even want to think about it. $12 BILLION a month for 5 years? Ugh. Every bridge in this country will fall down from neglect in the meantime I guess.
- Loans... WOOO!
- Well, we know he won't raise taxes, right? RIGHT?? hahahaha.... Just remember all you McCain voters, once he's in office and raises YOUR taxes while cutting big business slack... it will be too late. Keep your head buried in the sand. I hope you suffocate.
- do you really want taxes raised? YOu guys will complain about that if he does it so what is the point? Democrats are never happy, you always need something to complain about. Do you realize that we are the most powerful nation in the world and we can do pretty much whatever we want? Money is not an issue, we will win the war so shut your f-ing mouth and stop complaining for two seconds
- with another 4,000 lives
- With U.S. dollars,, How else?
- The same way we have paid for it thus far, from our banker CHINA.
- typical repub Mcbush
- by getting rid of all the stupid programs the government is funding. Not that he'd actually do that. He's too liberal.
- Borrow from china.
- How will J. McCain pay for five more years in Iraq It's called the poniz scam. Put user fees on Phones, TVs, cable, and everything else he can think of. Amount around 350 dollar a month.
- How does Obama plan on paying for it if we pull out and there's a disaster? Are you saying we should make military decisions based solely on the fiancial cost?
- Cutting spending. Starting with pork and moving on to agricultural subsidies. Then reforming defense procurement. How does Barack Obama plan on paying for his health care plan? And his infrastructure spending plan? And his foreclosure bailouts? And his "middle class tax cut"? Don't say by bringing troops home from Iraq. He's sending them back out to Afghanistan.
- For one, stop piling all those earmarks on any piece of legislation's that goes through the house and senate. You wanna know where all your tax dollars go to? I wish we had a private audit of all the pork that goes through Washington, it would be a scandal of enormous proportions.
- It's all political talk, he knows that we can't afford to stay in Iraq for another five years. The death toll is already high, and he proposes to keep our troops there for five more years? Can you even imagine how many more American families will have to receive that horrible notification that there loved one died in a far away country, and for what?
- By putting us in more debt, so that we can have debt up to our ears.
- More loans from China.
- he will rob the social security fund, tell you to buy your own health insurance .tax the hell out of the middle class, borrow money from the chinese, sell us down the river for help from any country, hes a warmongling s. o. b. who would lay beside the devil to keep a war going at all times.
- Aw it so nice to hear you admit the Democrat going to raise Taxes...With the likelihood of significant political change in January 2009, the Pentagon has been thinking a lot about next year's defense budget request (fiscal year 2010), which the new president will inherit when it's sent to Congress in February 2009 so Obama going to get us out of Iraq by Feb ha ha dream on he just tell you what you want to hear.
- The reason this war is taking so long to begin with is because of Bushs' statement before the war. He promised not to reinstate the draft, and in order to keep his ratings up he had to keep his promise. I'm not saying that, if elected, McCain will reinstate the draft, but it is a possibility. And to be completely honest, the only way we are going to win this war is with a bigger army being sent into the Middle -East. Sending in a large army would be very unpopular on the home front, and eventually we will have the same situation as we did with Vietnam. Vietnam was a disaster only because it was an unpopular war at home. It is a statistical fact that the U.S. won over eighty percent of the battles in Vietnam, and the Vietnamies were backed by both China and the Soviet Union. It is also a fact that when the troops came home from Vietnam, instead of throwing parades to welcome the troops home, the immoral, liberal swine of that era threw eggs at them! The war in the Middle-East is a war on terrorism, which is unlike any war we have fought before. which is why, at this point, it is seemingly unsuccessful. The ends justify the means. Give Democracy a chance!
- Keep borrowing from China. They almost own us already, he will just seal that deal. Rebubs keep complaining that Obama is too socialist, well it is a hell of alot better than being communist. Which is where we are heading if we keep selling our country to China.
- Compared to Obama wanting to shell out Billions to Africa ? You better think twice before you agree with pulling are troops out . If you take the time to research what would happen if we pulled out you would realise McCain is are only hope! Or just stay a Democrat and watch your party get crushed by a Real American Republican!
- Obviously lowering taxes on the rich stimulates the economy... somehow? Uhhh... because it lets Paris Hilton buy more Coach bags, which leads to more Coach bags being made in... wait, they're not American. Trickle down economics? Let me try again. McCain will pay for the war by (shakes Magic 8 ball) hosting a bake sale at the Lincoln Memorial! Man, I'm glad 1.8 BILLION dollars a week are being spent on the Iraq war and not on improving the infrastructure of the US economy. It would suck to have those funds go towards our deteriorating freeways, collapsing bridges, and developing new sources of energy. And there's no rush to bring the troops home and reunite families and loved ones either. Ok, I'll answer seriously: McCain in all likelyhood doesn't have a plan to pay for the war, and if elected would slash social programs and raid social security and medicare to pay for the war without raising taxes.
- tax the elitist democrats. special tax breaks for the women Obama calls "honey"
- John McCain IS NOT the one who decides about that money. It is Congress who decides!!! If the PEOPLE back those payments then WE will sponser the war for 5 more years. By lowering taxes will get us enough revenue to support the WAR. By lowering taxes and putting more money into the hands of the people allows those very same people to start up businesses and to hire more employees which puts more money into motion. SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT.
