How much would gas prices be if John McCain becomes president?

Public Comments

  1. Not less than USD 150 a barrel and the price of gas in the uSA wd be$6 per gallon!
  2. The ONLY way to reduce gas prices is to CONSUME less. If McCain is elected, there will be no programs implemented for alternate energy sources, so gas will likely remain at current or higher prices
  3. The same as ever. When will you learn that gas prices will not get lower?
  4. $8 a gal before he left office. It's already $6 here in canada. That means that they believe that gas prices can triple again without people rioting in the streets.
  5. OK people, let's have a lesson on the laws of supply and demand. We all know that when something is in demand the price goes up. If the demand greatly outweighs the supply, the cost goes even higher. Ergo, low supply and high demand means super high pricing. A couple years ago, China decided to have their own Industrial Revolution. Their consumption of crude oil more than doubled from 1990 to 2002 and it is projected to QUADRUPLE by 2010. So the price of oil will be going up because the US has limited the amount of domestic oil we have at our disposal by restricting drilling. As far as gasoline, supply is waaay down. We used to get alot of gasoline from refineries in England (British Petroleum). Europe as a whole is converting vehicles to mostly diesel fuel so they are producing less and less gasoline. Add to that the fact that refineries in the US have to spend more than half the cost of improving or building a new refinery on legal fees and it can be seen why we produce less and less gas. You want gas prices down? There is no magical immediate solution. We need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. We need to allow drilling in the gulf of Mexico, We need to allow drilling in ANWAR, we need to encourage refineries to expand and improve their refining processes. We need to build more nuclear power plants (anybody even HEARD of pebble bed reactors? Super safe). We need to allow wind generation farms, and that means that politicians can't stop em because it's where they like to go sailing. Only when the demand for oil goes down and we improve and increase our supplies will the price stabilize. Ya might also want to look into converting your vehicles to Liquid Propane or make your next vehicle a diesel - just look at Europe.
  6. He can not control what OPEC charges for crude oil .. .. .. No one in the world can only supply and demand has any effect on what OPEC charges .. .. .. And right now Oil Hungry China is the pig in the oil field right now and I do mean a pig in consumption of all the crude it can get it hands on .. .. .. And OPEC does not want to make -- China mad -- at it the country that makes 80% of all merchandise the world sells and uses .. . .. And the president has got enough problems at home instead of taking on OPEC .. . ..
  7. By the time the election is over, it will already be around 140 to 150 a barrel. If McC is elected it will surge ahead to 200 a barrel almost overnight.
  8. doesnt matter who is the prezzy, gas will continue to skyrocket. its called simple supply and demand. high gas prices are not a republican thing.
  9. Free gas to all identity holders in America. one cylinder to one family each month. They can get from govt fair price shop. you are jumping 6 yards and i am jumping 10 yards.
  10. The president has no control over the price of oil. Oil companies don't even dictate the price of oil. Oil is traded on a world market based on supply vs demand. Demand is high worldwide. In 2003 China's demand went up 30%. The demand for oil never goes down. It only goes up worldwide. We have to find a way to do without OIL!
  11. The same as they would be if Clinton or Obama becomes the president. America is not a socialist country, and government has no control over prices. Not yet anyway. I hope we keep it that way. I like freedom.
  12. the same as if hill and or obama were president. mc cain is about as left wing as is obama. who every gets to be president of the 3 america will have a democrat for pesident mr doodles
  13. President has nothing to do with gas prices.
