How has your opinion of Barack Obama changed after his speech yesterday?
Has it changed or has it remained the same? Why? Why do you think he succeeded or failed in communicating the message he needed to convey in the wake of the Reverend Wright controversy?
Public Comments
- nope, I knew something was wrong with this clown from day 1. He is up to something very devious and the truth is coming out.
- I STILL LOVE OBAMA! MY FEELINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED.
- His speech was nothing more than an attempt to save his campaign. Therefore it had very little effect on me, cause I see it for what it truly is.
- He failed because ultimately you can't say you are a devout committed christian who attended a church for 20 years and then try to say you don't believe what the church preaches. There wasn't much he could say, but I think people thought since he is so good at making speeches maybe he could cover his ass. However he is cracking under the pressure , now making comments that his white grandmother was a "typical white person..." etc. I just wish people who already voted for him could take back their vote now that his true colors are being exposed.
- When he made a bigger deal of Ferraro's statement over Rev. Wright's statements, I lost all respect for him.
- He stood there and stated the obvious and didn't really address or justify his relationships with that church.... britt is not helping the blonde's stereotypes out
- My opinion of him is the same... I think he is a great man, and would make a great president. People shouldnt make a man accountable for anther man's words.
- Obama was succeeded but then we now have the Rep's swift boaters trying to make him look racist when we know it's the Rep's that is racist.
- Hasn't changed. A vote for Obama is a vote to put someone with Louis Farhakhan's views in the President's inner circle.
- I think he failed politically because he did not reassure those of us who have concerns. I think he succeeded however when it comes to humanitarian efforts. I think he has done a lot for bringing the racial tension out into the public to see and process. His speech will be legendary. He may very well be a good man, but I think he is too inexperienced right now. Give him another 8 years to practice.
- I don't care about religious nonsense. I'm voting Obama because he's the man!
- I think Obama could be a great voice for the benefit of his people, but not for America.
- I like him less now
- Nope, they stayed the same... he didn't have very high marks in my book as it was.
- I never cared for him because I've always been able to tell how shady he truly is. However, this has all brought my disdain for him to a whole new level. I think that he failed miserably with absurd speech on race. However, the media has really been trying to twist reality and manipulate people into believing that his ridiculous little speech was actually something wonderful. Unfortunately people seem to be easily manipulated by the media.
- yes. I have even less faith in his judgement now than before. how can you listen all those divisive sermons and not speak up or leave the chuch, unless you have bad judgement.
- Barack gave a powerful speech, and I loved it. It reaffirmed my commitment for his candidacy. He is a intelligent man and he rises to the occasion. This is just a test to see how he performs under pressure and he was just magnificent. We have a chance to have a commander and chief who is honest and willing to listen to the people and not just take our tax dollars and do as you will. While the rich keep getting richer and the middle class work them selves to death. I don't know how anyone could vote against their own interest. So his speech was relevant to take a good look at yourself and what are your motive. And most people do not want to face those criticism of themselves..
- Obama succeeded in my opinion. My opinion has not changed, but only strengthened my belief that Obama really can help heal this country. I don't agree with Wright's comments, but as a person who has grown up in the black church, and has descended from those who were victims of Jim Crow, slavery, and such I understand his viewpoint.
- The truth of the matter is, most people have already made their minds up, and the Hillary supporters are going to dog his speech and ditto all the rhetoric from the Clinton camp. Us Obama supporters are going to dog Clinton on her fake nonsense. My support for Obama goes beyond what his pastor, his wife, his camp, or what his dog has to say. I am going by the fact that he is not in the pockets of the wealthy millionares and billioares and their lobbyists, or at least as not as deep as Hillary and McCain.
- I think he did the best thing possible. I mean, the instinct would be to try to ignore or let it slide, which would be the worst thing possible. Certainly he was successful at handling this in the way that offsets the Hillary "experience" (ready on the first day) rhetoric. But I was sold already on his ability to handle difficult situations. So my opinion has changed only slightly, and for the better, when it was already good.
