Did Obama give the Pennsylvania election to Hillary?

With his comments about bitter voters in small towns? His comments: "If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that," Hillary's response: "Obama's comments were "elitist and out of touch." Do you think it will cost him the election for PA? Remember Hillary MUST win this one or she will not have the delegates she will need to get the democratic nomination. What's your thoughts?

Public Comments

  1. She was always going to win, he just solidified a larger margin that she wins by.
  2. No. Most people have more sense than that.
  3. He can't give what he never had. I always predicted a 10 point victory margin to Hillary in PA. All this news does is make that an even safer bet. 15-20 might even be odds on.
  4. it's up to the Pennsylvanians, the pressure is getting to him, the real person is coming out.
  5. No, Hillary will probably "mis-speak" about something else between now and the primary. Both sides keep doing it.
  6. She was always going to win but I think this matter just like the Wright affair, will have very little effect on the election. It is still not for 10 days. Voters will realize this is a big deal about nothing. 4000 Americans have died in a war that Hillary and McCain both voted for. 30000 have been wounded. Most voters know this is something that really matters.
  7. They are debating tomorrow (live) HRC can go for the jugular. My view is that his core supporters will follow him no matter what foolishness he says. This misstatement added to his others "punish women with a baby" is dooming him with independents.
  8. He may have given her the nomination
  9. Let’s break the statement into its component insults: "[T]hey cling to guns…" Cling to guns? Americans have "clung" to guns since the founding of the Republic. It’s such a core value to this nation that its founders placed it second on the Bill of Rights, right after freedom of speech and religion. Speaking of which … "or [they cling to] religion …" People don’t become religious because the economy hits a few bumps in the road. Obama may have chosen his religion based on politics, but most people follow a religion out of a deeper sense of spirituality. I can’t think of a more condescending and contemptuous analysis of religious dedication than this statement. "or [they cling to] antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment…" Small-town voters are bigots and xenophobes; there’s no other way to read the first part of this statement. The second part, about them being "anti-immigrant," is a non-sequitur. They may be anti-illegal immigrant, but that’s a far different issue. Obama offers no proof that small-town voters are xenophobes, but the Frisco audience didn’t demand any, either. It’s part of their own bigotry that makes them see middle America in those terms. "or [they cling to] anti-trade sentiment …" And this is just jaw-droppingly hypocritical. This comes from the same candidate who opposes the Colombian free-trade agreement and wants to throw NAFTA out the window. Who’s clinging to anti-trade sentiment? Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Big Labor. It would be difficult to be any more condescending or insulting in so many ways to so many voters in a single sentence. It reveals a deeply elitist and shockingly callow candidate. It’s the "Let them eat cake" of 2008.
  10. Obama didnt GIVE anything to anyone. Obama is a self centered elitist who only cares for himself.
  11. Yes, sadly, it does. I thought he might have enough momentum to break event, but since the Pennsylvanians don't know him well and Hillary's attacking the comments as you'd expect, it will cost him any chance at the state. We're probably looking at a 7-point victory now where it would have been between even and a 3-point HRC victory without this.
  12. i am a citizen of pa , and nobody tells me or sways the way i intrnd to vote .obama didnt insult me. neithe did hillery. the only problem i have, is deciding which one to vote for i think either one would be good for the country .
  13. It's incredible that every mistake someone makes, Hilary just gets right on top of them. I look at Hilary as the dirty politician and will do anything to get her party's nomination. Obama's comments were bad but they were the truth, remember in this kind of country were living in right now, thousands are losing their jobs across the country; it's not just Pennslyvania. I don't think these comments will lose him the primary; he will become the Democrat's nomination for president and then lose to McCain. The reason is, no one is this country will vote for a black man to be president or a woman. The U.S. is considered backwards when it comes to electing presidents. Examples: President of Argentina a woman, Chanceller of Germany a woman and Former President of Peru a Japanese man.
  14. I think people will see beyond this, but Hillary's camp will want to "condense" it into seeming like he said something different than what he actually meant. Hillary will want to pounce durning the debate, but I am sure Obama will be ready to answer.
  15. i think hillary is being too picky...like if someone were to point out your grammatical error when you ask "what's your thoughts?" (when it should be "what're your thoughts?") see? thats being picky, too, just like the obama bashers are being. Nah, most folks understand obama's meaning, just like everyone understood your question. It won't hurt him.
  16. People have already understood the context of what he said and know what he spoke is reality and the truth Very hard to speak the truth out loud for anyone, never mind one who is running for office, as most will do anything NOT to say the wrong thing for fear of offending ....... Nice to see ONE candidate not afraid to speak the truth So........more like she gave him the election as she continues to use spin instead of facts. Millions of people are watching and their choice will be made soon
