Election funding question?

So John McCain wants to bypass the public funding law that he helped write, so he can take more money from special interests. But because President Bush has refused to seat the FEC Commissioners, they cannot meet in a quorum, so that they can analyze the questionable nature of a loan he took that used the guaranteed public funds as collateral for the loan in the first place. So now he wants a special dispensation that would therefore allow McCain himself the approval to bypass the law...Which he wrote to forestall abuses of election campaign funding. Does anyone else find this to be at least outrageously funny? If not very sadly ironic?

  1. Truely sad. What's sadder is that now he is leaning on Obama to agree to bypass so that he will be able to.
  2. In the real world, people are promoted and/or hired, based on job performance with references and/or word of mouth. MOST politicians are bought and paid for by special interest groups. I must say that the only way to stop the evil of politics is to stop campaign contributions. WE need to inform/TELL our political representatives that WE NEED TO INSTITUTE the LINE ITEM VETO. This will keep the SPECIAL INTEREST GARBAGE from being attached to valuable legislation. IF your special interest is SO valuable, why do you have to HIDE it in valuable legislation? Unfortunately for Democrats ... they have to recognize that for a majority of the last 60 years, that Democratic Houses and Congresses have CONTROLLED the nation and the President. So, with them REFUSING to PASS the Line Item Veto, in reality, the House and Senate have REALLY been controlling the country!! AND, with the CURRENT Senate and Congress having the WORST approval rating in HISTORY, hopefully we will see a LOT of changes after the general elections. In the latest Reuters poll - A paltry 11 percent gave Congress ... the Democratic-controlled Congress ... a positive grade, tying last month's record low. A recent Reuters poll is out and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have pulled an upset: They have managed to make George Walker Bush twice as popular as Congress. THE SENATE HAS A 25% APPROVAL RATING!
  3. McCain is simply an old hero who is now confused and tired. The honorable thing for him to do would have been to just resign. He seems to have that entitlement thing in his head that he must be the president of America before he dies. Not so sure if the presidency is a matter of reward for the olds. But he has made costly mistakes along the line that will not qualify him for this reward. He voted for Iraq WAR. As an old house kepper, he suppose to have known better that Ron Paul or Obama who voted against that Iraq war.that killed Over 4000 Americans for stupidity and lies. He seems to be campaigning against himself - HE SAYS GOVERNMENT IS KNOWN TO BE INEFFECTIVE AND HE DOES NOT WANT BIG GOVERMENT. But he want to be president?
  4. Sadly Ironic
